Military Members Missing Out- Ideas?

Hey everyone!
So, for all who do not know me, I am Hyper from GMod. I am currently about to deploy again, and I love my job, but I want to remain in touch and be a part of EGO. I love Edge Gamers, the only problem is I go to the field to train and deploy quite frequently, so I am sad to say I am not as active as I used to be or I would like to be. The organization helped me through a lot and I truly feel a lot of people here have earned the title of family to me, because no matter where I go, or how long I go I can jump right back in. Although I love it just as much as when I leave, I always have to start again at the bottom step and learn new names, get admin trained a million times, and basically start as a new 'e" to most people. It can be very frustrating!

I guess my point in this this thread is to kind of brainstorm ways those of us that are busy with travel and deployments can still remain active and contribute to the community. Maybe network or start a group of us, military or not, that are dedicated to edge yet busy with other formal obligations or service contracts. Maybe meet people who are on the same type of duty that can connect and engage with each other while abroad. I may be crazy but I think it would be a cool idea to discuss. Who else here is active duty in the military and would like to start talking about it? I think it would be a great time and we could probably bring out more members of our community that are not able to dedicate as much time to contribute due to our line of work. I know edge has helped me in some crazy times and I think our collective experience as vets or Active Duty Service members could bring a lot to the table especially when it comes to the younger members who may have been in the same places before. First off - thank you for your service. I have a lot of respect for military members of any country, and first responders. It's such a huge part of our lives that often goes unnoticed.

We do have a lot of people who go in and out from time to time for the same reason - used to be a LOT of military members here, although I think the demographic has changed a fair bit, there's still a good number of people!

You should be OK to get refreshed for admining and jump back to your old rank - and keep it while coming in and out. Quite a few people do it. Talk with your games leadership and see what you can work out to keep things active even when gone for a bit

I'm less frequent with the games now than I used to be, so my visit to eGO is often to the forums. I started a topic for something I'm fairly into (anime, lol) and whenever I come back there's a small group of people who continually contribute responses to it and thoughts every so often. So that's fun. You could maybe start a topic like that that promotes good and continuous discussion.

If you do wrangle together a group like that, it would probably be good! You could easily make a discord server and invite members and friends to it. Or even try to request a channel in the eGO discord.
