Since the Dust 2 server has been moved some of our regular pubs have commented on the poor registration. One player has played with some of the client side commands and has found a combination that will improve reg and would like it added to the MOTD. Since we don't have a MOTD, we might want to add to the Counter-Strike Information Center.

cl_cmdrate 100
cl_updaterate 100
cl_interp 0.01 if you have less then 50 ping if your 50-100 then do cl_interp 0.02 or 0.01 depending on what feels best to you
fps_max 200
cl_smooth 0
cl_interp_ratio 0
Every time a player joins the server these would have to be input: cl_interp_ratio 0 Cl_smooth 0 cl_interp 0.01 or 0.02 fps_max 200

I used these settings tonight and it did seem to improve reg.

You should explain to them that it’s never going to be great on a broken old game engine with more player slots being used than it was ever designed for.

From what I recall these numbers for the commands you’ve listed can change person to person and you actually need to analyze some data to tailor them to your machine and connection to get the most out of it. Telling everyone to use these could backfire for some players and make them more mad at us.

These also need to be saved or added to autoexec if I recall too.

Some of the pubs were saying that the tick rate was changed to 100, whereas before it was 66, and they are getting lag spikes because the server can't handle the increased load. Can't confirm it though, since right now there are only 20 on and it's fine, but when the server is full I could see the extra updates per second causing choke.

While this is something that could be good for clients to use, it's not something that we would be able to force onto them from the server. Feel free to suggest these options to people if they are having issues~
