Nope. I used to do various QC stuff for Microsoft back in the day, but nowadays the industry has become a massive problem what with overworking their employees and such... It's like every other week you get news where you find out publishers and/or developers like Epic, EA, and Ubisoft expect 100+ hour work weeks.

Considering the quality and issues with many games coming out, it sure seems that a lot of companies have lost their passion and are simply forcing their employees to put out games that are not ready, or have massive issues, or quite frankly just suck.

Being able to properly make content is key for creators. When you put creators in a position that is purely driven by financial greed, you will rarely see success and continued happiness to work and produce good content.

Working endless hours to make a crappy product sucks. Working endless hours on a project you are truly passionate about is worth it.

Everyone would say yes, unless they know what actual AAA game development is like.

Would love to, but only for certain companies that I would genuinely feel proud to be a part of - masterpiece makers

e.g:

Naughty Dog
CD Projekt
Rockstar

And if I could be anything, it would be a game tester @ $100/hour :D

I wouldn't mind spending a while in a basement with a friend coding some indie game!

No probably going into law or business

Did Computer Science for a year, not for me :)

Want to know how you can go from really enjoying something to hating it? Get a job doing that thing.

While CompSci is for me, game development really isn't.

I would rather work IT on minimum wage than be hired by Blizzard with high hopes only to be assigned Diablo Immortal.

Only if I was paid hourly, especially with how long those guys work. Similar situation with where I work now - thank god I'm hourly.

Im going to Uni RN for buisness Marketing then again for game design. Im gonna be openning my own studio in 4 years so hmu if u got game ideas and we can make it happen! I got the funding!

I?m not entirely sure, I?d probably look into part time work but that?s about it!

I have a very vague idea of video game coding, but if i had continued studying it, i wouldv created team fortress 3 by now

It's difficult. I've been hearing a lot of horror stories from developers about how they're treated, and it makes me question whether I'd ever want to work in an industry like that. However at the same time, a lot of jobs are like that; where you have to absolutely grind and shove yourself into the ground with work to make a name for yourself before you can get something nicer.

I guess at the end of the day it depends on the company and what you're qualified to do, and how nice your resume/references look. If I knew I could get a nice job outside the rat race, of course I'd take it.
