Ageia to be purchased by Nvidia

cool! does that mean that graphics cards will have further physics capabilities?
 
I always kind of thought they would just start integrating the physics chips onto the video cards anyways. Looks like my guess might be correct.
 
Nvidia was great alone, now with the physics too... man nvidia is deff. gonna take over (not trying to start a flame war. just my thoughts)
 
I think Intel will soon start to putting built-in physics chips in their processors. I always knew there would be no need for these silly physics cards. They barely supported any games in the first place.
 
I wonder if someday Nvidia will produce their own line of CPU's. They have come very far since the start of the Millenieum. The g92 alone has around 754 million transistors. Perhaps this Intel/AMD war will turn into an Intel/Nvidia war. As for Amd...I can only hope they have something good. Its sad to see them in such a deprived state.
 
Thank God, those physics cards were a joke. I hope Nvidia can turn them around. Every GPU has a physics processor, unless you plan on creating super algorithmic motion program a stand alone card is a waste of money.
 
Maybe Nvidia will be able to compete with ATI now. They have nothing to fight the 3870x2, and their only dual-gpu solution is in no way cost effective. You might gain a few MHz over the 3870x2, but at a much higher price. Nvidia has to use two PCB boards for two GPUs, while ATI has found a way to use one PCB board and two GPUs. Using two PCB boards = more money, and less efficient. The 9800GX2 also was delayed until the middle of March, which isn't helping things.

Anyways, the 4870x2 is already slated for June, which should murder anything Nvidia can cook up unless they do something drastic.

what reviews are you reading everyone i have seen compares the x2 to a 8800gtx... not even an ultra. maybe on price they are at an advantage now.... but thye arent king. nvidia is...

Crap...I had a huge post made w/ sources during my Video class. Went out to film and came back and someone had closed the window before I posted it.

Gnah, now I gotta dig around again for benchmarks.

I will say this: Nvidia does do better at lower resolutions (read: 1024x768 and lower). ATI has started to beef up and is taking over the higher resolutions. Really, who games at low resolutions? Gamers and enthusiasts are going to migrate to ATI because of that. Will post the source/s that proved this once I finish digging again..*sigh*
