CoD4 ping spikes

I get ping spikes every 2-5 minutes (by spike I mean 999 for about 5-10 seconds). This only happens in CoD4, it seems to not be an issue with TF2.

Any ideas?

actually... check this out. read down about what lafinass has posted about his ping spikes in TF2 and run a couple of tests.
