I think that's the problem with a lot of shows. Like I've never gotten into GOT because of that but I also almost never got into Lord of the Rings because of The Hobbit book! Sometimes the beginning is all backstory and sometimes it's about putting yourself in the shoes of the people on the screen.
Some people just don't..... click. That's fine!
It just means it's not your thing.
