Death loss

I'm rather confused with the whole "Death loss points" thing, so I would like to ask a few questions.

(1) Generally, how is the point loss calculated?
(2) Does the point modifier (e.g. Knife kills are worth twice as much) apply to point loss too? D:

If someone could clear things up for me, I'd appreciate it. ^ ^

The same way you get points, i.e. the modifies, is the same for deaths.

team kills i think is the same at hostage kills but more then a knife kill

Thanks for your help (especially Acid Green XD). Anyway, I guess my next question would be what calculates how many points you lose? Like, I've had 1000 point people kill me, and I lose 1 point. I've had 2000-3000 people kill me and I lose 5 or 6 points. Do you know how HLX calculates that?

team kill = 50 point loss
Kills are generally more than your death reductions, but the higher up the ranks you get the more points that will will be deducted.
Knife kills are generally calculated with your rank in mind. Because when you get out of the 50/50 or the beginning i guess you get A LOT of points from players on the top. Then of course you'd gain a lot more from knifes.

If anything check the HLxtats to see the rates.. I'm pretty sure they show it.
