Tech Help 9900k Or wait ?

Hi there, I need some advice.

I'm currently using a Intel 6600k With a msi Z270 Pro carbon Motherboard.
I save overclocked it to 4.4Ghz ( went for save overclock since I don't have much experience with this )
It improved allot, But still for BF5, It just comes a little bit short. Especially when other things are running.
Now I wish to remain with Intel even though ryzen is rocking atm.

Shall I buy a i9 9900k Or perhaps a i7 9700k. + Ofc a new motherboard ( z390 chipset)
Or shall I wait untill intel releases their 10th Gen. Processors ?

I'm not using my pc for anything else besides Gaming.
As might noticed my knowledge about this is not exctensive.

I guess this all comes down to money. If you have the cash for it, I'd get the i9. If you don't the i7 will work fine. If it were me, I would get the i7, as I'm never one to upgrade to the latest/greatest.

Money isn't really the problem here tbh.
The point is i've been roaming arround the internet, And as far as statistics show me the i7 compared to i9 Gaming wise isn't really that big.
I might be overlooking something, But if so, why spend more when there is no need to.
 
I personally use the 9900k, if you're just going to be gaming, I think that the 9700k would do you just fine with just gaming. As far as the 10th Gen, I don't see any HUGE changes in performance unless they find some way to get even higher boost speeds - keep in mind that the turbo speeds are normally only single/dual core, not all core.

Might be worth it to purchase the 9700k, and maybe save up for an even more beefy GPU?

Like Eric mentioned, if you do like to overclock however, then the 9900k may be the best choice for you. On BF5 with a GTX 1080 and the 9900k, my FPS (depending on your settings) never usually goes below 100-120 fps. If you use future frame rendering, which increases input lag by a slight bit, then your FPS will be ever higher, I averaged anywhere from 140-160.
 
Pretty sure from a purely gaming standpoint, the i7 is better than the i9. Hyperthreading won't come into play, so the only real difference is the somewhat higher clock. The i7 would actually overclock better, since the i9 will be running hotter clock for clock.

I think I might actually go for the i7, Since my knowledge with overclocking is minimal.
Probably would only do a simple base overclock =3
