The current map voting system results in too few maps being played far too many times. This is especially obvious when all three of Thorgot's maps have been grouped together as some of the top-played maps on JB at the same time, and when closequarters and rooftops dominate TTT's equivalent. I propose a map-voting system similar to a few other servers, but in order to keep the style similar to our current map system we should only do three changes to our current one.

1. Remove the nomination system, this will give ALL maps an equal chance of being voted upon by opening all of them to the vote instead of the ones people usually nominate (which are overplayed anyways, why do you even trust us nominating maps).

2. Increase the amount of time which a map cannot be voted for if it has been recently played. The purpose of this is also to prevent maps from being overplayed.

3. Increase the amount of time a vote takes, so people can truly make up their mind.

4. Add a map guide to the rules to help new players get a look at what exactly they are voting for.

The only thing I see something for is having a requirement for nominating, like before a map gets on the vote list, set % of players need to nominate it.

The thing is, if people don't want to play the same map over and over, people will not vote for that. Sadly, a giant majority of players like to play the same map because they either know the secrets, like that it's easy to get people to RDM and annoy the admins, or they just like that map. I don't think we should be changing the system too much in that regard (so your third point, or number 2, I do not agree with.)

1. There's going to be less players because some of the popular maps that are on the server aren't on the vote list. Even tho maps have an equal chance some maps are always going to be picked over others. For example more people will vote for vipinthemix rather than prison_paradise/winter (not sure of the name), there's probably nearly always going to be a map thats overplayed/liked by majority of the server meaning even tho all these other maps are on the voting list, still probably wont matter because ppl will vote for the overplayed one.

3. Increase the amount of time a vote takes, so people can truly make up their mind.

2. A vote takes a minute, each map is 45min, the vote starts at 44min, theres a whole min to vote for a map, why do you need more time, just pick a map you know or that sounds intresting, are you really going to sit there for 30/40 seconds considering which option to pick from the 7, and then after that 20/30 seconds considering to pick one out of the 2 options.

2. Increase the amount of time which a map cannot be voted for if it has been recently played. The purpose of this is also to prevent maps from being overplayed.

3. If you change the "cannot be voted for" to "cannot be nominated" then i guess +1, but i think the current number of maps you have to wait before nominating another map atm is 7, if it was raised to like 9, then ok. I think as long as you can play the same map atleast twice in a day its preety good.

Some other things i noticed i'd just put in.

1. You messsed up the numbers xd, you went like this "1., 3., 2."

2. You messed up the

RESPONSE TO Sammie Sammie

The only thing I see something for is having a requirement for nominating, like before a map gets on the vote list, set % of players need to nominate it.

The problem I see with this is the fact that it will discriminate maps based on how well they are liked, and I feel that this will introduce the problem of grief teaming (ex. gangs like kz mass nominating maps, which WILL happen).

The thing is, if people don't want to play the same map over and over, people will not vote for that.

Sadly this is not the case when it comes to our CSGO servers.

(so your third point, or number 2, I do not agree with.)

lmao ya

RESPONSE TO C Corrupted

There's going to be less players because some of the popular maps that are on the server aren't on the vote list.

I highly doubt that this system will affect eGO that much considering how widespread it is, and considering the fact that our servers are full almost all the time and the route we are going will require eGO to invest in another set of CSGO servers (not to mention how risky this might be on a business standpoint), wouldn't this be a worthly sacrifice?

why do you need more time, just pick a map you know or that sounds intresting

The problem is that new players who are not familiar with any map will always vote for the map they are told to vote for by others. New players should have a bit a time to think their vote out, like maybe 15 or 30 seconds more than they already have. You gave myself yet another idea:

4. Add a map guide to the rules to help new players get a look at what exactly they are voting for.

12 sounds like a better number, especially because in my ideal system, every other map will be open to nomination. thus we will only have 2 pages of maps that cannot be voted for.

The servers aren't full almost all the time, play during eu times, 11 players, 20 at max. Have you ever noticed how many people join when moonjail is on? I'm not even joking as soon as moonjail came back and we played it, it went from 30 players to 52, im not exactly sure if thats how it went but i remember that a lot of people joined when moonjail was on. I personally want to have an option to nominate a map, I don't want to play some random map that's just bad, has no secrets, and has a bunch of bad games, i want to play the maps I know that are fun. Having the nomination system removed will just be stupid imo.

They will probably be familiar with some maps if you played other servers, if they are not then they're not forced to vote for the map that people are saying to vote for, and even if they do vote for that map, so what? They'll know atleast one map then, then after that map they can vote for the next map and keep learning the maps they have fun the most with. They don't need more time, they have a 30 seconds to pick an option, you don't need more time to click a number on your keyboard lol. Also why a map guide in the rules? Rules are rules, not some guide to how to vote for a map or whatever, also what would be in that guide? A picture of each map and a description of it? lol.

12 sounds like a better number, especially because in my ideal system, every other map will be open to nomination. thus we will only have 2 pages of maps that cannot be voted for.

12? Are you mad. I think the current system as it is is preety good, it just needs a few MINOR changes, not something like that. You have to wait more than 9 hours to even nominate a map. Why is that you're ideal system? Two pages of maps that you can't play.

What you're suggesting are major changes that i dont think will work lol, removing the nomination system is not going to be good. I would legit play way less if i would have to wait 12 maps to play another map and i cant even nominate the map that i want.

EDIT:
Some maps are played a lot because people like them, why add in a system where you don't allow players to nominate for a map they like. Just so other maps are played, hoping that they become popular? There are underplayed maps being played, if people like them, more ppl will vote for them, if they don't, they won't vote for it and will vote for a map they like more.

+1 for extending the time on the cooldown on recently played maps.

However I do agree with C Corrupted that removing the nomination system is a bad idea. People nominate their favourite maps for a reason, and removing the option to choose those maps in front of others seems it would do more harm than good. Don't get me wrong, I love playing shapeshifter and august, I just believe theres a better way to go around this problem.

Some maps are played a lot because people like them, why add in a system where you don't allow players to nominate for a map they like.

If they really like them, they will vote for them. Regarding the wait, they'll simply find another map that's similar (most maps are modelled off each other anyway).

Theoretically, we'll extend this effect to other maps because people will get to know new maps. Besides, map creators of many popular maps have other maps (which are typically similar) on the server.

I would legit play way less if i would have to wait 12 maps to play another map and i cant even nominate the map that i want.

Well if you aren't willing to try new things I'm fine with that, I'd rather play actual JB instead of rp_thorgot.

This is a very old argument...

The nomination removal is a huge no no. People nominate maps they like and those nominations are based on who is online at the time. Perhaps increasing nominations one or two? That would make map options more open, but at the end of the day does it matter? People will play the maps that they like- so why the hell do we care that some maps are left behind? Are we hurting those maps feelings or something lmao? It lets the players online decide what they want to do and how they want to spend their time on the server. I don’t know why so many people have a problem with that. All this would do would make a wider range of maps that people will still only select- it wouldn’t be by much, and some maps would still be unplayed. I find this entire suggestion unnecessary.
Let people play what they want to play!

You're not allowing them to nominte the map, the odds of it getting on the voting list are low, and if the 12 map waiting queue or wahtever gets added they ahve to wait 9 hours to play it, lets say they just missed the map, they have to wait 9 hours and even then the chances of it being played again are not that big.

Tf you mean "you will extend this effect", what effect? That there's more people on the server. Yo just cuz they got on to play one map that they like deosnt mean they will play for the whole day just to test out some other maps. Ok, the map creators who have also other maps, name them, except for dede and thorgot, bc i personally don't know any other, also maos are modelled off each other lol, each creator comes up with a theme of their owns, they don't copy others usually.

Well if you aren't willing to try new things I'm fine with that, I'd rather play actual JB instead of rp_thorgot.

How many maps by thorgot are on the server? 2/3, quake's kinda a half. You're complaining about 3 maps constantly being played, avalanche isn't even as much played as undertale and/or quake. I think u just wanna say thorgots maps are just overplayed, even so, so what? People like them, you're not going to be only playing that the whole day, you have other maps such as prison_m, clouds, vipinthemix, dojo, peanut, moonjail and so on.

Tf you mean "you will extend this effect", what effect?

They will grow to love new maps, we're all guinea pigs.

I think u just wanna say thorgots maps are just overplayed

Basically they are, but they aren't the only overplayed maps. Maybe with this new system Thorgot could create new maps that we could grow to love as well, and maybe when it's re-added we could finally play arcade, an underplayed map of his.

You can't guarantee that.

They're overplayed because people like them, you want people to not be able to nominate a map they like just so other maps are played, which ppl probably won't like.

:confused1::confused1::confused1::confused1::confused1:

Not sure about it right now, but it used to be well over played and people liked the map.

other maps are never played lmfao

Now you say that new players will stop coming to the server should the nomination system be removed. I would like to give you a challenge:

1. Name a player who found this server randomly, likes one certain map, and only plays because of that certain map.
2. Name a player who found this server randomly and is consistently on the server that isn't a member of eGO, or a member of a gang.

As time passes people will get bored of *overplayed* maps and want to play new/old maps.

Now you say that new players will stop coming to the server should the nomination system be removed. I would like to give you a challenge

No, i'm not saying that. I'm saying that regular players wont be able to nominate a map they like because other maps aren't played.

1. Name a player who found this server randomly, likes one certain map, and only plays because of that certain map.
2. Name a player who found this server randomly and is consistently on the server that isn't a member of eGO, or a member of a gang.

There's a bunch of people who find this server randomnly, if you go to community servers, type Jailbreak, enter, and then select it by the most players, the pg/ego server will be the #1 most of the time, if it's during na time zone. A lot of players don't stay, they might just stumble across this server see the word jailbreak, see a bunch of ppl online and then try it out. Also with your second point or whatever, nearly nobody who's a regular on the server doesn't either join ego or a gang, if you're a regular on the server does it hurt you to either join ego or join a gang?

other maps are never played lmfao

There's reasons to it tho, it's either not liked by the community, maybe other maps are played over it, etc. But does that mean we just don't allow the player base to nominate the map they like. Also does maps that are "never" played are played at times, just not always. Just because they're not played when you're on doesn't mean they havent been played at all that day.

At least on TTT I can get people to play underplayed maps usually by just saying it in chat, like hey lets play this pretty unknown map.

So how will this impact playercount?

Sadly most people do the same with overplayed maps

Because certain maps aren't played and there will be bad maps like marioworld (that's just my opinion) being played. This system is just pointless, don't allow players to nominate their favourite maps just so others are played, which people will probably not like and just not play. Again, the current system is good, no major changes are needed, possibly minor changes and that's all. There's underplayed maps being played.

I can even prove that underplayed maps are being played. If you go over to this link: https://prestigegaming.gameme.com/csgo3. There's a graph, showing each map played, if you check it there's underplayed maps being played, although they might be at 7:00 am they're still being played through out the day.

WHAT ARE YOU ON MAN? ARE YOU INSANE? Marioworld literally gives us Mario unlike any other map!

Also, do underplayed maps get enough playtime?

I wouldn't be against raising the time it takes until a map can be played again.
