Stop thinking about it. Getting promoted isn’t a game where you can learn the tricks of the trade or follow a list of things to do to 'level up'. Not everyone will get promoted, and nobody should ever expect to be promoted. Moving on to the next level of eGO, I don’t believe, was ever intended to represent a goal to work forward to as much as a way to reward those who are deserving. Much like the ribbons put into place a couple of months ago.
Just because you have not received a leadership ribbon doesn't mean that you have not been a great leader or hard worker. It just means that you have not been labeled as such in a public manor. The same is true with eG and eGO rank. There may be some e's who have been wonderful clan mates to everyone, but who may not have received a promotion.
To put it another way, a promotion is a way of honoring someone for their efforts in a public way and allowing them to take on more responsibility. But it doesn’t mean that someone who is promotion less must be any less of a good leader, a strong example to be followed, or someone who gives back to the community any less. Nobody needs a higher rank to be a good person - so if all you are interested in is having more power and more respect from the general public then you may wish to rethink what your goal is, and most likely you are not the type of person eGO wishes to share its trust with.
If you want a promotion then be humble, and only worry about yourself - not about anyone else who gets promotions. Let eGO be concerned with other members, and you can be concerned with yourself. Be the best you can be, and forget about promotions.

* Complaining
* Setting bad examples
* Acting immature
* Never showing up to the forums/never playing on the servers
* Not following the rules
* Getting 'overly help full' and getting into topics you are not related in

Do not talk about promotions, especially in forums.. It will decrease your chances.

Basically just sit back and have fun. Play on the servers, post on the forums, just be active and alert to things that are going on in the clan. Not much else you can do. Oh on the server just set a good example and follow the rules to make it easier on the admins. They do there job well and its hard enough to keep the people not in the clan at check with the rules. Those are the ways i see are the best way to get promoted.

As everyone has said...play the game, be respectful, help admins when/if they ask for it. It won't take long.
