Deathrun as first game on quake/obama

On the map jb_quake_a04c, a common first game is Deathrun.

If you think about it, Deathrun cannot guarantee 50%, as players can fall into lava and instantly die, or more than 50% of the players can be killed in the same trap.

In my opinion, this game should not be played as the first game as it cannot guarantee 50%. T

Same should go for obama, as it's very similar, and all the players can fall down in the water and die.

One thing I learned during my time as a toxic ct, is that if things are played 100% by the book the server would look a lot different. In truth, the rulebook is there to ensure a fun environment for everybody, not for players to scour through every technicality. In no case is anyone ever going to see 50% of the server accidentally fall into the lava in Deathrun, and even if that were to happen, I'm pretty sure there is a recall on that game so it is still guaranteeable.

This should remain allowed, it does not cause problems even though it theoretically could so why kill a plausible first game? This would leave you with climb and exo climb as first game, as surf first game always results in somebody opening vent and going armory.

As for obama, I have never seen it played first game, as there is a secret half the terrorist team would be in in a matter of seconds. There is absolutely no way to guarantee half on obama, with the amount of traps etc and it's not a simple walk like quake. It should never be played first game, deathruns like dojo and obama should be left for after first game. It really comes down to warden and admin discretion which ones are playable first game, and wardens should always plan to take more than just half to allow room for error.

It doesn't have a recall.

Deathrun is playable on Quake, and here's why. #1. Deathrun has a recall. The recall is the first button there, it's the closest one to the portal. #2. Deathrun is stoppable. You can order your CT's to stop pressing buttons. #3. You can guarantee 50% of players because you can recall and manually stop the game. This fulfills the requirements to play this game as a first game.

In regards to quake, it can definitely be played first round. It has a recall and 99% of the time ends up with well over 50% alive. Most games that can "guarantee" 50% don't truly guarantee 50% but without them, most games would not be able to be played first. (Ex, Colors, Deathcrate, Wipeout, Breakfloor, etc). On the other obama's deathrun can be played for the first half, I would personally not allow the second half to be allowed for the first game as it is buggy.

Quake's death run always guarantees well over 50% because each trap usually kills around 0-3 players on a full server.+ the obvious recall button and an option to say AFK freeze and stop pressing buttons. Do some research before posting something, you are an admin in training after all.

No game besides a select few is guaranteed to keep half the t's alive. As long as the warden is actively trying to keep half the t's alive, it really shouldn't be a problem.

I think I do have to agree with Mary here. I understand the concern but honestly, if it hasn't been that much of a problem that has been vocal amongst the general public, chances are, it will continue to stay that way. As long as people still have fun, I think it is fine the way it is.

There is no need for this kind of hostility, admins aren't perfect, sometimes we forget things. This is just a suggestion. But kaise I dont belive that on obama you can play deathrun first game as you can not recall it and there are some traps that can kill you that aren't manually activated, Power_outlet will have to correct me if im wrong, And as other people have pointed out, there is a recall on quake that you can use.

I think the rule is just there so you can't play like dodge course, like for example on vip, before the addition of the recall button you couldn't play it cuz there was no recall or stop button, i think the rules there just to prevent from does type of games being played first.

Quake is fine. It has a recall button and nothing really kills you unless you're acting super carelessly or a ct triggers a trap.
Obama doesn't have a recall and the last half is bugged so it should definitely not be allowed for that. yikes.
+1 for obama, -1 for quake

-1 From me. What I define as able to "guarantee 50%," is that by the CT's actions, 50% of the T's must remain alive. What I mean by that is, well, i'll use quake for the example. If the CT's are pressing buttons, then there needs to be some moderation and stopping point for when the T's live are in their own hands. When the CT's are pressing buttons, the T's need to decide if they want to take a risk, and put their lives in the hands of the CT's or not. If the CT's are NOT pressing buttons, the T's lives are in their own hands. If they die, it's on them. Furthermore to this, I think this would also add to problems with other games, such as deathcrate. Deathcrate could TECHNICALLY kill every T with one hit, or potentially take the T's below the 50% mark. The reason I bring that up, is because really no game can guarantee 50%. The T's could kill themselves, slay, or just have some other random factor come into play.

Short version of my whole post: Making deathrun unplayable for the first game is unnecessary, as the problem you listed with the game will not be the CT's fault if those problems were to occur in game.

With the current rules there is no reason death run cant be played as the first game as seen below:

The first game played at the start of each round must be a map game that can be stopped or recalled. This game cannot be the same game played at the start of the previous round.

As long as the warden is attempting to not kill more than 50% its alright. There are situations where sometimes the game will kill more than 50% but it is out of the wardens control. Thanks for the suggestion this is not something we plan on changing in the near future.
