"After Dark" Hours on the CS:GO servers

While I do understand that the server is international, and has people playing from all places in the world, there's no need to say that a HUGE portion of the players are based in North America.

What I'm suggesting is having some "After Dark" hours on the servers, maybe not every day, in which some of the chat rules (PG-13 only, no drug references, etc) get removed. I feel like that would enable the players to be freer, and talk about various topics without any repercussions.

If this would be added, I recommend it would start from 11 PM Eastern, and it would last until 2 AM Eastern (8 AM Central Europe, people joining)

Sounds like setting up for people to be like "I'm in xyz time zone so I can do this!" and people toeing the line HARD with topics. Trying to get everyone on the same page on what the limit is would be awfully subjective and tricky. Too argumentative and kinda goes against the concept of eGO being a more mature gaming community. I would predict some chaos and admining issues.

While I do sorta enjoy the idea of having some "free time", I'd rather lump my buddies into a group on a Discord chat or TS room and enjoy ourselves than let the server have free reign. There's already enough chaos on some of the servers regularly.

i basically exclusively play latenight jb and this kinda stuff soooorta already happens. there aren't many people so me and other admins (from what i've found at least) tend to be more leniant on rules like that. it would be kinda cool to have it actually 'allowed' so-to-speak but simon brings up some good points with that.

See, this seems like good admining. If people want to toe the line a touch but everyone is on board and it's clearly not offending anyone at that time of night as is, then keep it that way. Step in when people go too far, know when things need to get toned down, but let people have a little fun with the right crowd. That sort of how it goes?

Remember, the admins tools and rules are given to you guys to use as you see fit. If the server is jiving well and having a good time without horribly breaking rules or being offensive, then there's no need to kill the mood.

I definitely agree with Simon in this scenario. When I was staff on GMod a while back (not eGO), I never really stepped in at night because everyone’s having a good time. If people started to make reports about whatever’s happening or people were way past a line that shouldn’t be crossed, thats when I’d step in and do something about it.

The point he made about everyone being on the same page is the trickiest part in my opinion because all of the different admins are going to think differently (obviously). If one admin says “yeah that’s ok, its not overly offensive so we can let that slide,” but another admin says “woah pal, you’ve taken it one step too far. I’m going to need you to calm down,” who’s in the right? Along with this, the timing segment is going to also have a bunch of people toeing the line. People might try and start it earlier or keep it going past the time. I just think that having it as not a rule will make it easier on admins to enforce.

Also, as lily said, this already happens if the admins are lenient enough, which is fine. I don’t see a reason to put it in the server rules, because soon enough new people will catch on and they’ll realize what’s appropriate and when. If they go too far they’ll be warned so they’ll think to themselves “cool I’m not doing that again” and then they won’t do it again.

All in all, I’m half and half on this because it already happens and doesn’t really need to be written down as a thing in the server rules. If admins wish to be freer and more lenient at night, go ahead. But adding it as a rule will just cause people to push it too far and for too long and act innocent because “it says that these rules don’t matter past this time.”

In terms of admins deciding things - when there are several admins in server they should be communicating with each other through admin chat to decide if things need to handled or not, and discuss actions as a team there.

But the ending is correct - sometimes adding rules only muddles things further . Less is more.

I meant more as different admins on different nights having different rulings on similar jokes/happenings, not them having differing opinions and contradicting each other while on together. Sorry for the confusion.

The admin only always has final say on the server. So if one night 1 admin agrees, and the next night another says u should cool down, you better just listen to that. Like Simon says, Admins have a guidebook that we can use when we see fit.

I personally are totally against this idea. I only play at night for US and it's already quite bad. Remember that we also have EU from ages 13+ playing during your night hours. I personally don't think we should only allow US children to play in a friendly and enjoyable environment (where people from all over the world can play in peace of mind, or something, which I taught admins a while ago in a different community...) but also have it for the EU people. It also just makes it more difficult for people to know which rulebook to use at which time of the day.

that wouldn't work at all, and full days vary in time zones. people could also record people saying the no no word during that day, and report it the next day. sorry guys but this won't work and i don't see this happening realistically. as lily said, this already happens to an extent and it is still moderated with leniency in mind.

full day=24h for someone in NA it may start at 1 am and end at 1 am the next day but for someone in EU, it may start at 6 am and end at 6 am the next day. I don't see the problem here.
And about the record people saying the nono word: these days wouldn't be a ruleless mess just a day where we can chill and not worry about some annoying rules.

Yeah, I dont agree with this suggestion. As others have said adding it as a rule can turn bad. and when im on the server late night, as long as everyones having fun, ill let a few things slide.
its a -1 for me, if admins dont mind they can go easier on the rules but actually adding it into the rules is a bad idea.

This is an absolute no go as we shouldn't be disregarding or not enforcing rules or making exceptions based on the time of day. There is a reason behind the system we have and those that aren't on board with this should possibly have their position re-evaluated.

Making a time of day for hell to break loose would end up having people record during that time and then report them once the time was up. To which then it would make investigations into bad apples much harder.

I always say this: If you are wanting to be dumb and mess around, do it in a private Discord with your buddies. Don't bring it into the server.

Late night isn't much different from normal times tbh, Less admins = less moderation thats all
