There's really no harm that can be done with adding this that I can think of currently. All of the arguments could be signed off with a simple "You gave up ownership, the new owner is free to do what they want with it." (Unless, of course, the owner didn't mean to give up ownership.)
This could be helpful with some gangs (specifically thinking of kz here) where the owner isn't really active anymore, or (thinking of lily's gang) the owner wishes to leave but wants the gang to live on anyway.
