I think since there has been a recent influx in opium being sold and confiscated by the police on our gta server that we should make the prices lower for opium and raise cocaine or meth. With so many competitors, prices will get lower as the product is the same and all that they can change is pricing to appeal to customers.
I believe it should go Weed - > opium - > meth - > cocaine
I have a cop and a criminal and I usually only see opium being sold and confiscated off people.

While I agree there is a problem, I feel that Opium should not be lowered, I think meth and cocaine should be increased in value above Opium's current $500 per baggie value. But the only problem here is, whenever you raise one thing over another, people are only going to sell the highest paying thing.

I don't really see there being any way to get around this whole predicament. No matter how much we change the prices the result will always be the same, majority of people will only sell the highest paying thing.

Something that could potentially work is making the pay out for cocaine, meth, opium, and weed, all somewhere around the same price range. This way if opium operations are being cracked down on by police, people wouldn't have as much of a problem dealing out another drug with a slightly less payout until the Police focus their attention away from opium.

Agree with Damon, the best selling drugs will always be the ones getting moved. Nerfing or raising a drug doesn't do anything except change what people do.

I get what you are all saying and I agree, but prices should still change to add to realism of the server. The market has been flooded with opium, so in reality prices should go down as competing sellers want to sell their product over the competition. Maybe a "police investigation study" shows that theres a bigger demand for cocaine or meth in the city now that opium is being labeled a problem by the press and the supply of cocaine and meth is low at this time so people can charge higher.

this is trying ur hardest to make something out of nothing

I think its giving incentive to not have everyone running the exact same thing all the time. Add a little variety, even if it is forced.

At no point should the value be lowered of the drugs currently. It’s hard enough making money with drugs as is, it’s a three step process that only pays roughly $500 a baggie at most. But randomly changing values only makes it more difficult for dealers. Your going to make it where it’s not even worth selling drugs anymore because it’s not fun, it’s just tedious. If we don’t sell drugs, your crimes cut down, if your crimes cut down, your jobs get boring and officers stop logging in. You have to make the server fun for all parties involved and making the drug dealing system more complex is not the solution to opium being the only thing sold currently.

Getting tired of this argument that somehow cops need this constant crime to function. It's actually the opposite: everyone being a drug dealer gun lord shoot you at first sight makes cops not want to get on.

I?m getting tired of cops assuming every criminal organization is going to shoot first ask questions later. If you ruin the fun for criminals, you will have a server full of nothing but cops and eventually you will have no server.

If you want PvE cops, you should play LSPDFR, this is multiplayer, criminal players should be able to have fun role playing as well and make money just like cops do. Crime is supposed to pay, right now it barely does. If you make it even more difficult, it doesn’t pay at all.

For the record, I haven’t carried a gun in 24 hours and I’ve collected and sold over 200k worth of narcotics and have only been arrested once when I was caught red handed.

What a heated conversation. We used to alternate drugs and move them every month. A lot of people hated it and that's why we reverted. Though the idea of changing the prices sounds good on paper, people did not enjoy change. Through RP, the other drugs could get popular. I enjoy when we have our Smoke on the Water event where weed was the drug to collect and bring back. jordy maybe able to form some sort of underground event just for that.

However, please don't make me have to close this thread because we are bickering about how drugs make the server what it is or isn't. It's you, the role players that do that.

I understand roleplay is a big factor, but my personal goal is to see criminals ween off the free paychecks in organizations and be able to make their income through actual gameplay. Everywhere you turn there's a suggestion to make criminal life in this server more difficult with the intent of better RP. I understand it's difficult to see the point of view from the opposite side when you have a police character, but all too often, things can feel one sided against the criminals.

It is common knowledge that in any RolePlay server, the majority of the server is designed in favor of police. There's a lot of examples of that and I don't want to alter the purpose of this thread, but I'd like to see an ingame solution to the problem rather than a roleplay solution and I'd like to see it not make the criminal job more difficult, but more interesting instead. I do feel that cocaine at the very least should hold more value simply because it is more difficult to acquire while I also feel that Opium is appropriately priced. But it will still mean the highest paid drug will be the most used, but when the cops start cracking down on cocaine, at least opium will be an option. Currently, anything less than Opium's current value makes it not worth the grind to collect it all.

End of the day, this is a role play server, but people still need things to do in the downtime or when they want to do some stuff on their own once in a while without having to quit the game and play something else.

It's supposed to be. Being a criminal shouldn't be easy, just like in real life. Doing drugs, robbing stores, running from cops... None of those are supposed to be made easy.

It's supposed to be. Just Like. Real. life. Why? Because criminals shoot first ask questions later 9/10 times cops get involved, and i'll be real, every time someone pulls some crap in game and then brags about it and/or complains cause it didn't go their way, it makes we want to play less. Don't expect RP from me if you just wanna run or gun myself and other officers down.

See, this here is why I stopped playing civ back in like... February? All people wanna do is drugs, and shoot other civs for literally no reason. I'd be trying to make a fun scene at legion square, not causing a single issue, but because someone felt "uncomfortable" what do they do? Whip out an AR-15 and light me up, which is why I went to cop. Chicken Noodle Soup and I ran drugs quite a bit back then, and I think we'll both agree RPing as a cop and having fun interactions is better than opening fire at cops and running for no reason. You want something more "interesting" but no other criminals do. All they want is for life to be easy so they can make money gun down cops and complain about rights and unlawfulness.

If I remember correctly from the meeting Jay is working on making drugs more "interactive" but idk anything about it, so take that with a grain of salt. Also, WE HAVE LEGAL JOBS FOR A REASON. Wanna make money? Try one of those instead of just standing in a circle, pressing E, putting stuff in your car, rinse and repeat, to then only complain when you get caught. (Yes I realize there's gonna be salt going around after getting caught regardless.) If you want the honest truth, it's that a lot of criminals care more about money than RP. I'm going to give a word for word dialogue I had with someone the other day.

Me: Sup dog
Criminal: Hey
Me: Whatcha doin?
Criminal: Takin some stuff somewhere, don't want the pigs finding out.
Me: Nice, nice.
Criminal: What do you do?
Me: I'm a reporter
Criminal: pfft. Really?
Me: Yeah, I enjoy it, it's chill
Criminal: *BREAKS CHARACTER* Bro you know you can do drugs and make money right
Me: *Gets in car and drives away*

It's stuff like that which annoys me. It's so easy to have good RP without any negative run-ins with the cops, and all of which include spending $0.

This is a lot to unload, but let me start by saying not ALL criminals are the same. In fact we met with PD leadership yesterday to cover quite a few gripes between the MC and the PD from both points of views. As a result of that meeting we have instated more strict policies on handling police interactions that involve not driving like a jackass while dealing because it attracts cops in the first place as well as allowing police to conduct the beginning of their traffic stops and giving them the opportunity to walk up and attempt to build a case against us via discussion before we attempt to flee the scene if we have more than we can afford to lose. We also have a rule in the club that if what you are carrying is worth less than 300k, there should be ZERO dead cops and ZERO shots fired at cops during the entire RP scenario.

There are those of us trying to make these police/criminal interactions more interesting. This is however a public server and there are always going to be bad apples that want to just run and shoot. We're trying to ensure the MC doesn't do things like this.

Nobody said being a criminal should be easy and it's not. Police are free to patrol known drug locations, but you need reasonable suspicion to search, not simply "They were standing near the drug circle", because you really have to act as though that doesn't exist. I've suggested in another thread animations to help remove this grey area. What I'm saying is being a criminal doesn't need to become HARDER than it already is right now to make money. As it stands, it's easier to make boat loads of cash as an innocent police officer than it is to be a criminal. There should be high reward for being a criminal but also HIGH risk that comes in the form of chancing getting caught. The problem I have with the current suggestions is they increase risk while maintaining an already low value making drug running altogether not worth it just like robberies are also not worth it.

I'm not sure how playing a legal job comes into play here, those are supremely underpaid and have zero incentive lol I remember when I first started I tried to do a refueling job as a civilian. After spending roughly 45 minutes collecting oil and refining it, as I was driving to deliver to the next step, my truck disappeared and lost everything(This was the truck provided for the job). After this, I was discussing with some people and found out the ultimate payout for that job was pretty much a joke. Why would you grind for over 45 minutes for low amounts of money when dealing drugs pays more than that?

Yes we are here to roleplay on this server, but one's definition of roleplay is not always another's. Generally, someone who wants to roleplay a criminal does so because their ultimate goal is to attain large financial sums(Trolling gun toting killers aside). In turn, they are going to do the jobs that pay the most. Right now that's drug running. The fact that only 1 of 4 drugs pays well and has a purpose to even bother grinding is an issue, the solution is not "Go play a civi job" or "Do a different roleplay" because it's not fair to tell someone that their roleplay of being a drug runner isn't good enough for you just because you enjoy a different type of roleplay. As long as nobody is running around gunning people down and ruining others' RP, this should be a non issue.

Yes, the servers are intentionally police biased, that does not however mean that on top of that it needs to be bias against criminals. Give police the tools to do their job realistically, give the criminals the opportunity where if they are willing to take the risk, it should pay out big. I'm sorry but the MC was intentionally white listed as a criminal organization out of character, it shouldn't be forced into non criminal roleplay to suit anyone else's preference of roleplay.
