I was just curious how many of us here like to play fighting games! Whether it be on a casual level, or on a professional level, either way works!

Let's see, I've always loved fighting games, and I've even gone to a couple of major tournaments (competing in Tekken) but I went ahead and spectated all of the events. They had Street Fighter, BlazBlue, Mortal Kombat, Marvel vs Capcom.....etc.

For those of you that play a lot of these kinds of games, do you often go to your local scene and seek out competition? Do you prefer to play with Pad or Stick? Anyone here from the prehistoric arcade days?

I mostly play on Steam, and occasionally PS4, so hit me up if y'all ever want to play some sets. I do also have Xbox, for Killer Instinct lol.
I'm telling you people, I'll play any fighting game at least once lol.

Sweet man, who is your main? I play with a lot of characters, but I tend to stick with the Mishimas. Jin can be argued whether he is a Mishima or not (game-play wise) but I main Jin and use them all.

inb4 Chloe main Kappa
Season 3 Chloe has me shook

Aside from playing Mortal Kombat with my younger brother, the only fighting game I've ever heavily gotten into is Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, along side other fighting games from that game series

Right on dude, old school MK is still great today, I often revisit with my arcade stick lol. MK 11 is pretty fun too.
I don't think I've ever played any of the Naruto fighting games......I remember playing the DBZ Budokai games back in the day though.

If you're playing on MK11, who are you using lately? I main both of the Shaolin Monks, but I like using Baraka, Sub-Zero is pretty sick too. I like Raiden but idk, I feel like I won't be using him this time around as much. I was super hyped when Shang Tsung was announced. HYPPEEEEEE

I was really skeptical about MK11 (I was not a big fan of MKX) but I've found it to be a very solid fighting game. It has its few problems here and there (variations, towers of time, maybe fatal blow) BUT it's really, really fun to play. It's also beautiful to watch lol

Street Fighter 6 has already been released, and Mortal Kombat 1 is only a couple of months away. As I was creating a new thread, I saw this old one I made a few years back, so I thought "maybe just bump it".
We still don't have a release date for Tekken 8, but a good guess is sometime 2024.

I absolutely consider myself a Tekken player, although I love all fighting games and will play anything for fun. I was curious how many of you guys are going to be picking up the next generation of fighting games, and what console/system will you be playing on? Do you guys prefer one fighting game over another, and I'm curious if we now have any serious competitors here?

I competed and travelled to play Smash for years! I was ranked as high as #7 in Ontario for Melee and #4 for Project M. I was gunning for top 100 on the MIOM rankings but didnt quite break through before I quit competing.

Its not by any means an arcade era game but when I was competing there was no online play, so all experience had to be gained locally and by travelling 🙂
That is awesome bro!! Congratulations on being #7 in Ontario, that is wild!! lol. The Smash scene is an interesting one fersure; much respect to Melee players. Definitely not an arcade fighting game, but still a vital part of the FGC nonetheless. Do you still keep tabs on the scene, or fighting games in general?

Jeez man that must've been some time ago. Regardless of the game being played, I really wonder how people had the will to travel and compete for all of these games, lugging around arcade cabinets, TV/console setups. Crazy times, and a beautiful thing it was/is lol
