Anyone have the Rift S? I keep considering to get it(I had the first gen oculus) but I read of a few issues that were really annoying and off putting to get it when it was first released. Just curious how others experiences are with it?

I have a Rift S, there's some pretty blatant issues, but nothing that makes it unplayable, for instance in Pavlov, character realignment isn't exactly the best, but it works for the most part, you have to look down every now and then for it to realign you.

There is also some ****y-ness with Oculus just straight up blacklisting USB hosts and driver versions even if they work just fine (like they did with me) so you might have to manually unblock your own USB host.

All in all I am very satisfied with the product. But it has kinks that are fixable. I'd honestly just save up for an Index and get that instead, considering the knuckles are a very good controller from what I hear, but they only work with the Index.

I never considered the valve index, honestly never looked much into. Are the base stations just added cameras? Also I heard of an issue with the rift s where the screen gets like 'white noise' that shows every so ofter(think of the fuzzy channel on old CRT).

I haven't ever experienced this 'white noise' but there have been cases where I have just yanked the cord out of my computer, but that will happen with all headsets.

The base stations are in fact just cameras, they provide room-scale, full body tracking, one of two things the Rift S doesn't do, and can be mounted with stands or just on your walls. The other thing the Rift S can't do is 'sitting and playing', it's always room-scale.

For only $600 more, the Index is definitely the better choice, Valve has been quite a VR pioneer and very consistent provider in the market, and the game from Stress Level Zero; 'Boneworks' which is coming sometime this or next year, as well as Valve's rumored 'new' Half-Life game both are expected to be oriented around it.

In a sense, to future-proof yourself, since I predict 'knuckles-like' controllers to become a standard, due to their 'sense use' and full five finger tracking. It's vastly superior than just pressing a single button on the side of a controller.

Here's a video of Boneworks, and there are many more on the NODE channel, I'm very excited for it.

Cool, yeah I haven't looked into it but I loved my old vr headset and have been wanting another but have yet to pull the trigger. Definitely worth showing the wife(she loves VR too) and see which she would rather have haha.

You ever think they will add some cameras for sitting etc for oculus rift s? For more tracking.

Rift S is a great headset IMO, but if you really like VR, 100% get the valve index. It has a 144hz display inside instead of the rift's 80hz with a higher FOV. Also the controllers are pretty awesome because they track fingers. Only downside is base stations

*also its $600 more
