I am suggesting a removal of Greenzones from all locations with the exception of the Police Departments. In exchange, I suggest a rule exist that protects EMS, Dealers and Mechanics from being attacked while in their establishments, but allowing clients of those jobs to be fair game.

I feel that too much of the community gathers in these Greenzones leaving little to no room for actual conflict to arise outside of with PD itself on the streets. It makes jobs like private security very unexciting when people simply have meetings in safe zones rather than somewhere they can be targeted.

That's just my opinion.

I Agree To this Statement and I belive it would be a perfect Option to Test out, This get ride of people abusing greenzones

I fully agree with this.

There is certainly a greenzone abuse present, and at the end of the day it only hurts the potential of RP scenarios to arise. People may argue your statement with "I'm always getting attacked or camped when trying to take out my vehicle". In that case, there is always the option to have a garage implemented at an apartment location.

At any rate, it's worth testing out and seeing the change in the dynamic of RP and potential scenarios, if it doesn't work out at all then revert back, but certainly testing this out would have good results and would be beneficial to the community.

So I do have a Question.

How do you know if they are what they are without metagaming? Say joe bob just walks around in a PD uniform or EMS uniform? Mechanics and dealership members do not have a set uniform I do not think. I could see it being abuse in that aspect as well.

Are you inferring that people would be impersonating these jobs in these locations? If so, I believe impersonating EMS and Police is already against server rules, don't see why that can't be shared with mechanics and dealers. The goal here is to remove the safe grounds but keep these important jobs off limits to random attacks because they are integral to ongoing roleplay. I can't see it being more difficult to enforce illegal impersonation than it is already to enforce greenzones.

The point she's making is how would you tell if you're robbing a mechanic or a dealer? They don't wear a uniform.

Using the greenzones to escape a situation is also against the rules.

You'd have to put effort into showing up and learning who is who before you commit a crime. It could also be as simple as the dealer or mechanic saying PLEASE DON'T ROB ME, I'M JUST A LOWLY CAR DEALER, to point out they are off limits while keeping it in roleplay. Gives the criminal the opportunity to switch to another target and let them go. The real question here is how little interaction do you want a criminal to have with these individuals accidentally?

I mean common sense dictates the guy sitting at the mechanic shop with the tool belt on works at the mechanic shop. The only potential I see for mistaken identity is dealers and you can see above for a simple solution to that. Put it in the server rules that dealers, cops, mechanics and EMS are off limits in their respective job locations and you can not impersonate them.

It's not.

To clarify, it's against the rules to wear their clothing. At least I've seen a couple admins enforce that policy whether it is a written rule or not.

Another solution, since you don't want these individuals messed with while on duty is to add an on and off duty option for their organizations, on duty gives dealers and mechanics god mode. No reason that should be an advantage since they are not allowed to be attacked anyway right? Bit of a stretch but I'm spitballing here.

I personally don't think they should be protected. I think they should have to protect themselves or hire security. It gives security something to do, it gives PD areas of patrol focus, gets them out of their cars and checking on locations like the dealership and mechanic shop.

The main reasons green zones came into creation was because certain areas would never realistically see assault in real life. Police had to deal with criminals raiding a police station to try and set their friends free which would simply never actually happen. It started with all police stations, fire stations, and hospitals to protect a limited amount of emergency services in areas they would realistically never fall under continuous attack.

It was gradually expanded over the course of its lifetime to include mechanics shops, the dealerships and the garage. The reason for this is low effort criminals would constantly target these areas to make large amounts of money in an easy manner, inhibiting the roleplay of others. Some of these areas are well trafficked or thr busiest parts of a city and would not see crime activity to the level that was happening. Police were constantly responding to calls in these locations and eventually just camping them with constant officer shootings.

Since police lack ways to actuslly confirm and remove stolen goods, there is no risk to robbing people. Even if you get caught you generally get to keep all their money. It is essentially a relatively low risk, high payout way to grief others without actually developing a character. Removing greenzones would just go back to the constant robbery at populated areas. When no police or security are on, constantly getting robbed in unrealistic locations in unrealistic manners is a great way to drive people from the server.

Note that characters should have no idea what a "greenzone" is. There is some level of safety in numbers, but a night time meeting at the parking garage isnt a good idea. Using knowledge of greenzones to your advantage, knowing you cannot be attacked, is metagaming and against the rules.

What greenzones at the dealership and garage and mechanic shop have in turn created is a bunch of afk people bored with nothing to do. I understand high crime may have been an issue, but creating safe zones is not the solution, you've gotta get more creative than that. We need something that doesn't encourage afk'ing and hiding in the safety of greenzones.

I fully understand PD being a greenzone, I can even accept EMS/Fire. But mechanics, dealership and garage are high traffic places that SHOULD result in some conflict, not constantly be peaceful hang outs leading to everybody just getting bored and having no reason to interact.

Admin low effort rp. Chain robbing as well. Pd and ems is the only places that should be greenzones

Please be respectful towards our admins, this is a suggestion thread. Keep it constructive please.

On this additional note, for the record, ABSOLUTELY nobody plays by this concept. Everyone hangs out at the garage because they know they can't be attacked there. If we treated the greenzones like this, nobody would be allowed in the garage, the dealer or the mechanic shop unless they are using the services.

This would theoretically be an alternative option, however it would just make those operating these jobs super bored with nobody to talk to, which is no fun either. We need rules to protect the individuals necessary to progress roleplay without deterring the roleplay of others and judging them because their type of roleplay does not fit our preferences.

Even if those greenzones are turned off and we say dealers/mechanics are off the table, what's stopping them from protecting their turf and shooting you as you try to rob their clients? Or is the goal to have PD/Security companies at these locations 24/7, essentially creating a green zone.
