Makes me wish the 3870x2 blew nvidia out of the water, i was hoping for a big jump in performance.

gah.. idk what to get.. have a xfx 8600 gt xxx edition. 's not bad but i want either the 8800gt or the 9600 gt

IMO SLI/Crossfire even on a single card is just a gimmick, the same with quad core CPU's(on gaming only,i know quad cores are good for some other applications). You think that having 2 cards would double the performance but that has never been shown, you are just getting buggy drivers, average motherboards with even worse drivers, and only a handful of games that actually support the SLI/crossfire for double the cost. Until theres some big breakthrough on gaming technology i will take a Dual core cpu with a single card and a non-Nvidia/ATI motherboard thank you very much

8800 is the only way to go
9600 wont do crap, not worth it, dont buy it
ATI's best card to date is the 3870 x2 witch is roughly as powerful as a gtx, nvidea's 2nd most powerful card.

rather just buy another 8800gtx only 300 bucks now

agreed! :)

The 4870x2s are slated for June, and are supposed to be LESS than $499.

2 x 480 shaders....*drool* 1GB GDDR5 memory, only 250W at max load...I'm so STOAKED that I'm getting two of these for free.

Wait, that's 4 x 480 shaders...since I'm getting two cards...

Oh, and they're making a 3850x2 ;)

~Gooda~

having it at the factory is one thing shipping it to stores is antoher.

Clearly you can see its slightly better then the 8600 GTS, totaly wroth the buy to get the 9600 its slightly cheaper then the 8600GTS
Total TFR/second difference between the 8600GTS vs 9600GT is 10, memory bandwidth almost doubled, compared to my little 8600GT 12.2 TFR/second and almost tripple the memory bandwidth clearly its in my best interest to get the 9600 instead of the 8600GTS plus the 9600 is cheaper then the 8600GTS.

As for the 9800 GX2 just pwnz all other cards lol

Enough said!

hypnotoad it does show performance look at that stats for games with sli / crossfire compared to one card, and also alot of the newer games that will be coming out in the next year to two years will take advantage of both cards, also the same thing with dual or quad core, game developers are making games that will take advantage of multi core processors, they will have it so one thing runs on one core and another thing will run on the other core, for smoother gaming. i believe that unreal tournament 3 and assassins creed are the first games to do this but im not positive.
