Gah! New UBER Card And Motherboard!

IMO, the 8800gts should get you more than 90fps. My evga 8800gts 640 gives me at least a hundred in many places. But that's with a e6600 at 1280x1024. I have yet to check my normal rez of 1600x1200. Either way, you're now safe to turn on vsynch. Looks like you won't have to worry about sheering anymore.

You have a better outfit than mine, for sure, but check your memory again. If you have 4GB RAM, your 32-bit OS will only recognice 2.75 GB RAM, not 3.2. It won't recognize 4GB until you make the switch to 64 bit.

I just finished my rig and I installed Vista Ultimate 32-bit. I wished to have it see my whole RAM and decided to upgrade to the 64-bit version of Vista and that's when the problems began. It blue-screened during install and because the file system had aleardy been converted to 64-bit, I couldn't just go back cleanly. I couldn't get the Vista 64-bit OS to install, couldn't get the 32-bit version to go, got Ubuntu to go well enough, but while Linux has Wine, none of the supported browsers process aspx extensions (for MS downloads, esp. MSDN), and it doesn't process MSI scripts, which, since that's how Steam is installed, means DOD:S is a no-go and once I found that out, screw Linux. So, I put my XP Pro 64-bit install disc in and found a bunch of my hardware drivers (including video and sound drivers), didn't have 64-bit version for XP. So, then I'm back to 32-bit 98... it installs fine, but I'm in it not 5 minutes before I decide I'm going to try Vista again. Damn XP memory management totally sucks that's enouhg in and of itself to try Vista again... So, I hvae the 32-bit version of Vista on now. I'll put the 64-bit version on later, when better driver support exists.

Nope it regognises 3.25 gigs even when i check more deeper into my system,i'm going 64 bit soon anyway so i'll have further access to all my lovely ram.

I've heard almost no problems when people switch over to 64bit Vista,might of been just bad luck.

Besides i will need it eventually since my system was built by a pc company they didn't give me a copy of windows so if i want to reformat i'll have to get a copy of windows anyway.

Yeah, im very very pleased, its even harder to snipe now because the shader quality is so amazing. Now when people are in dark corners, it actually looks that way....harder to see. the texture is amazing also, and my games have never ran faster or looked more realistic in a looong time!
 
You'll get better than 90fps unless your running Vista. I've got Intel Core 2 Duo, Nvidia Geforce 7650 GS and a VIA motherboard (I know VIA is rubbish). I get like 100 or so max fps, so you should get loads more with that rig. !lol
 
yeah well, i dont have my cpu installed or my mobo yet, ive got a crappy 3700+ , not even dual core. i have to buy a new heatsink and fan then i will be ready
 
What Dual core you getting? if i were you i'd wait till july because Quad core cpu's will be going cheaper and you might aswell jump on that.
 
quad core will be a good choice as soon as they kill some of the bugs on them but still the prices for the intels will be dropped soon so it will still be worth going for one of em dual core 4mb l2 cache cpus
 
well, idk about the quad core, i dont poop money like you guys do. Remeber im 15, 300 bucks is alot of money to me. But eitherway, i need a new gaming case, or a used one idc. Im really excited to put the new cpu and mobo in though, should really boost my performance up
 
The GTX is a little better performance but the GTS takes less power and is less expensive. I also have a GTS. BFG 8800 GTS. 8) You will be happy with it.
 
I have a laptop so pretty much the most i can do it upgrade RAM which im going to do very soon
