What I am about to suggest entails a bit of work.

Basically, we implement an additional priority towards Police Department and EMS accounts.

As it currently stands, DS have priority over everyone else. Manually, I've recently observed that Members will get priority over non members in the server if the amount of cops online is almost 0 in a full server due to the queue.

The system I am suggesting is create a new role for PD and EMS accounts that places them in their own priority bracket. This means that a calculation is done:

Is the server full? Yes - Are there less than 10 police on? Yes - Activate Police queue Priority - Are there less than 4 police characters on? Yes - Lock out civilian character access on police accounts - (This one's optional as it's a bit sketchy) Kick non-members to allow for member access - Is the server full? Yes - Are there less than 10 police on? No - Deactivate police queue priority - Are there less than 4 Police characters on? No - Unlock civilian character access on police accounts.

Something similar could be done to allow 2-4 EMS on duty during a full server.

The two ideas benefiting from this calculation is that We ensure the server has the 1/3 ratio of police characters on duty vs non PD per the goal of the department AS WELL AS an automatic system to force officers playing civ onto their police characters if there are less than 4 police characters on duty at any given time.

I know this may be a bit complicated, but I think it will ultimately be worth it in the long run to ensure the server maintains a balance. It has become a larger and larger issue over the last week with the queue size and length for officers to get on duty to balance out the server.

While it's a good thing that we are gaining so much popularity, we need to retain a balance in the server to ensure good and fair role-play.

I think the much easier solution would be for people to become dedicated supporter, not only do you get priority in queue, but you help the community out!

I think that locking out people who are cops from playing civ is too far and at that point unless they?re getting on for cop they won?t get on at all, just my 2 cents though, and it might still be fine

I quite honestly find this to be, just plain inappropriate. The server NEEDS police just like it NEEDs other elements. When you have a server with no cops and all criminals, how long do you think that will last? Telling cops they should just pay the server money so they can get beyond that queue when they are the ones needed in the server is kind of a sick joke, don't you think? People will pay when they feel the urge to pay. Choosing to not support a mechanic to maintain server balance in favor of forcing players to pay you money to maintain server balance is all in all, disturbing.

Some of us show our support for the server by voting for it and dedicating so much time to it every day to help out, not just because we love doing paperwork all day every day. Some of us simply can't afford to donate to a video game server because we have families to think about.

As far as the priority queue, I don’t like giving one group special access. What’s to stop the mechanics or other white-listed groups from asking for the same thing?

Are the mechanics required to maintain a fair opportunity for realistic lawful and unlawful roleplay? No....If you take out the police and the criminals from your roleplay server, you are left with....well....nobody. With the exception of maybe 4 people who do "extended" forms of roleplay.

The suggestion here is not creating a priority for police, it's creating a priority for police when the minimum quota of police to create server lawful and unlawful balance is not met.

I'm sorry that you don't like giving one group special access, maybe the police don't like sitting in an hour queue to log on to be a criminal play thing. So basically your solution to that is, lets let the criminals overtake the server in the evening? By all means, have at it. I'm not the one who complains there aren't enough cops on to handle everything, that would be all the civilians getting murdered, robbed and stalked all evening asking where all the cops are.

Police are definitely a very important part of the server, but so are the mechanics, the medics, the dealership, etc. Everyone plays an important part in the operations of the server. If any “job” was to be removed from the server, it would play a big impact. A while back, when the server was full and they needed LEO’s, they’d make room for them by removing AFK or non members. Which is why we strongly encouraged becoming a member. I am not saying I disagree or agree with any statements, I am just stating my opinion.

This is why (from my understanding as I've seen it happen recently) we are allowed to kick non-members from the server to allow police/ems who are in queue to join the server.

"But what happens when the server is full of members?" - Well all we can do is ask that if people aren't doing anything if they can leave the server. (which has almost never happened)

Basically what I am trying to say is, it is very unlikely that Police/EMS will get their own priority queue.

So what I'm offering here is a solution to the problem of 1 or 2 cops on in a 32 person full server, that will allow the cops to balance out to about 10, which I believe was the server goal at any given time. It is not a solution to give cops priority ALL THE TIME.

If that's not something that interests you folks, that's up to you. But I'm pretty sure an evening with 10 cops and 22 civilians on roleplays a lot better than an evening with 2 cops and 30 civilians on.

In my opinion, even if something of priority was put forward, if the server is full, 32/32, it will not fix the issue, even if all the cops are in the front of the queue, if no one leaves the server, no one will be able to get on. Sure, they will be in quicker then if they were not in a priority queue, but it won't completely fix the issue.

Sometimes that's how it really be tho, Not everyone can dedicate their time to do anything for a video game. Other popular servers have 1 cop or 1 ems for 20 or 30+ people and they just have to ride it out till someone else can join and help them (or in our case, sit in queue and have non-members kicked) - If there's a chance no one can be kicked (no O or Leadership on) then again, they will just have to ride it out.

Giving jobs priority queue would just create a hassle and other jobs would want it and soon enough, everyone will have a priority queue and we're back to square 1.

A problem i see with this is for the people who are cop and another job on the same character, how would the system know if said person was going cop or their other job?

I understand, my question goes for someone who is a cop and another job on the SAME character. If their jobs not set as cop but they intend to go cop, the system would have them unable to play. Is this whole issue not what we have a second server for? Lots of civs have been asking for the server to have a bigger lobby to hold more people. Yet the S2 gets completely overlooked.

This isn't possible unless we start storing externally; who police are. (Which is what we did to the Queue before I made it automatic anyway.)

You are only identified as police once you join and load your character, never before.

We already keep and maintain an active external roster of all PD officers ^^

I could see it being abused. Let's become a cop to be part of the Queue, joins Civilian.

The suggestion includes locking civ characters on the account during login and only allowing access to the character with the police job.
