I was wondering if I should wait til the new year to possibly waiting for a better deal to come around.

This one would be better than the previous option - in terms of speed.

Keep in mind that majority of wifi routers really all have the same amount of "range" - there's a limit to how far you can push things and they've sort of all reached it. That one would just get you a bump in speeds (when you have good range).
