How do people feel about DnD (or other tabletop RPGs)

I might wanna just grab some people and do some DnD games but first i'm curious do you video gamers have any experience with tabletop games and if so any funny/cool stories you wanna share.

Ill share one first hope y'all enjoy:

I was the DM for this game and my friends the players.

During some campaign high jinks the party was asked to come negotiate a deal and in good faith each side would only send one person. so the party sent their bard to try and get some of that good favor.

One thing lead to another and the bard found himself ambushed, surrounded and betrayed, Luckily for the bard the druid didn't trust the quest giver and followed the bard in crow form to see what will go down.

all the bard and the cultists down below could hear was "Caw Caw motha ****as" as a bear comes hurtling down 50 feet from the sky crushing 3 cultists swooping up the bard and yeeting outta there.

I'm sure the bard let out some sort of flashy one liner but we were all still bawling laughing at the druids heroic entrance.
 
I had a DnD game where a party member went to look for weapons on the ship the party was on, rolled a 1 and somehow managed to sink the ship with everyone on board.

The same game where a party member Architect of Life Architect of Life had some issues discerning a seduction target's age.
 
Had a previous dm who had a roll to confirm on crits and a 2nd roll to confirm the cknfirm if you roll a 20 again which results in insta kill.

Anyways we encounter a Roc which if flying overhead our barbarian decides to throw whatever he happened to have in his hand at it which was a banana. Our DM said it was physically impossible to hit it was too high in the air so our druid (me) had recently found a staff that could turn into a big tree and so we all climbed up the tree. The Druid (me) then wild shaped into a bear and gave him a throw into the air and then our magic caster cast a spell (not sure which one to push him further in the air at which point he threw the banana. DM told him to roll to hit, net 20, roll to confirm net 20, roll to confirm net 20 crit. So yeah thats how we 1 hit kill a Roc with a banana 200 ft in the air.
 
I have a great story... It wasn't DnD, it was Stars Without Number. The first time we played the entire party, excluding myself due to my insane physical save luck, got wiped because some genius thought it would be a good idea to use firearms in an explosive gas mining facility. Needless to say everyone was immediately incapacitated, but I was the only one to survive.

A few months later, a new party was brought to a similar situation, but this time, we made a makeshift explosive device out of that same explosive gas. But this time we got trapped trying to plant the device and well... Everyone died in a massive gas explosion minus the one guy who didn't have any guns who stayed on the ship.

Lets just say I've not had great luck with this one gas.

We're talking about DnD? I'll show you some nice numbers.

I investigated some areas in a goblin camp and found a magic amulet that gives me proficiency in all armor types.
My passive perception has screwed the DM so many times. If he tries to ambush the party, I've essentially already found all the enemies already.

My character is a level 10 Rogue/Level 2 Warlock.
 
I've never played, but I've ALWAYS WANTED TO. I have no idea how to create a character, or really do anything else (but the gameplay seems pretty straight forward). I would LOVE to play but I would just need help with quite a bit of stuff...
 
Not webby, I'd be willing to help you with character creation. And teach you if we can find a good online DM

I never played DnD not bc the stigma of its for nerds, but bc i have no friends to play it with and i don't know the rules
