Promote new Eg s after their training

Greetings dear gamers,
(Not sure if there was a previous thread to this but couldn't find one)

So the problem that were having right now, after new years eve is that a few members got promoted to Moderator but they can't use their powers. So when a cheater/rdmer comes in on (CSGO) servers we cannot kick/ban them unless the specific new mod goes to spectator and one of us DS is online on the server.

This causes a small time delay and sometimes the new-promoted moderator can't play for a few rounds. Yes, I know they are there to moderate the server, but they are also there to play the game.

So my suggestion is that why not promote them after their training is complete?
- In that case, they will still be known for their promotion in new years and we will have a bit easier kicking cheaters/party poopers (rdmers) off the server.

While I do understand the logic of this thread and understand where you're coming from, I'd say I disagree with the suggestion.

While this might sound right to have admins able to use their powers straight away (considering they were pre trained), I think that it is better to get the list first, which is based on various factors, and from then people can choose to accept the position and its powers (there might be people who dont want to get involved with such stuff), and then get trained which doesnt take quite long but needs to be done properly and not in a rush.

Also if you think about it, it would make not too big of a difference of when it is announced anyway since the same process would have to be followed, so it would make no difference in dealing with troublemakers in servers. After all I believe there is a method to ask for an admin even by asking through discord, so that might help a little bit.

In addition I find it rather exciting (and so do most of the new admins) to see who got their promotions from a list rather than being asked if they want to be admins (saves up a lot of downtime as well), and then follow the proper procedures to be able to use their powers. After all, not everyone might be ready to be trained at the same time as others as well.

How it would be: Gotta wait until you're trained to get your tag AND use your perms

I just don't really see a point in implementing a suggestion like this, either way you'll be waiting the same amount of time to use your perms.

I think admins shouldn't receive permissions until after they are trained. This prevents new admins from using powers before being trained and to also allow DS players to use perms in the case only non-trained admins are online.

Previously in pG the way it would work was any promoted player would receive their (eG) tag in-game but it will not be highlighted green to indicate that they are an admin but dont have any perms. We also allowed players to keep their rank (eG, eGO) but have the option to not have admin powers if they wish. Sometimes players like to be recognized as a known member of the community rather than a recruit and not have the pressures of being an admin on the server.

+1, I was on TTT late night with a few RDMs and they thought I could respond to RDMs and kick and such. Even if I knew what I was doing not being trained I didn't use it and it confused a decent amount of people of why an eG isn't moderating

Based on how permissions are set up, we need to promote them in order for them to use the forums where they request training, read documentation and fill out their paperwork. We would have to do a very large permissions overhaul and from a technical standpoint would be an issue.

The massive majority of admins after promotions are trained within 48 hours. Very few are held up much longer. So your scenario is very unlikely to last for long or happen too much without another trained eG or eGO to come in. Not to mention how readily available admins are.

Back when these were Prestige Gaming servers, there were people who were "promoted" but never received training and did not admin at all, but wore the tags. It was a non-issue then.

I don't think this is really a big enough issue to warrant the amount of effort to make these changes.

Yes I also agree with this. Doing a complete overhaul of permissions sounds a bit much when it isn't a big issue at hand. However I do think it'll be nice to have noted as a future change if we ever do plan on making forum/website changes.

Agreed, it would be nice. If there ever comes a permissions or forum overhaul in the future I'll be sure to keep this in mind to mention.

Just based on the lack of discussion for this topic and how our permissions are structured right now, going to slot this to completed for the time being. Perhaps in the new MAUL implementation we will be able to look at this differently and assess it better then. Thanks for the thoughts!
