Well I have been thinking about getting a new computer and instead of buying another dell (ive already bought 3 cuz dell is the best you can get without making your own) I am going to make my own for the first time. I ain't that smart when it comes to pcs (just a basic understanding) so I am going to need your guys help on some of this stuff. Here is the basic setup as to what I am going to get, and already have.

Power Supply - [link=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182032]Rosewill 600 W RP600V2 SLI Ready[/link]

Motherboard - [link=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131030]ASUS P5B LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel[/link]

CPU - [link=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017]Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775[/link]

Video Card - [link=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150277]Nvidia GeForce 9600GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP SLI Ready[/link]

Case - [link=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811226020]SIGMA ORCA ORCA WB Black SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower[/link]

Hard Drive - Pending

CD Drive - Pending

RAM - Pending

Monitor – Pending

Headset – [link=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104055]Logitech Premium Headset[/link] (Done)

Keyboard – [link=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823126034&Tpk=Logitech%2bG15]Logitech G15[/link]

OS - I have always used XP Pro but am pondering vista ultimate seing as it seems to be the new rage.

I am still searching for the pending ones and the links are what I am going to order. Those with Done are already purchased. Comments and suggestions are welcome. Price range for total is below $1,700

P.S. That case is the sickes case I have ever seen. There is no way I am getting any other case. It is everything I wanted in a case and is dirt cheap. I sit in my chair for hours staring at that case and drool. I might marry it ;)

dont get the 9600 gt alot of people even me been having problems with it, it crashes on certain games, mostly tf2, dod, css alot of steam games, wow and a few others, go for a 8800 gt oc or something in the 8800 series or a 9800 try to stay away from the 9600 if you can,

and so far your computer is looking goood

9600GT is a horrible card, Add some more $$ and get a 8800GT or GTX from BFG or eVGA

I'd recommend an 8800GT right now, but otherwise, it seems good. I'd also recommed a 150GB raptor. Awesome boot/load times for games.

Glad to see someone else builds their own ;)

Just so you know, Dell is NOT the Best computer you can get without building your own.

Also Your better to get an 8800 GT or GTS.

Case isn't that Sick, Doesn't look like I could sit on it without it collapsing., Thats why I like mine, it can hold me as a Seat.

EDIT: Please post based off update 2(Next page), it is what my recent additions are!!!

I have a few questions....
1. Will all of the stuff here work together?
2. Will that dvd drive color contrast well with the case?
3. Can you recommend a monitor? I like 1152 x 864 pixels and 19" but it is not limited to that.
4. If I already have Windows XP Pro can I keep it from this computer and use it on the new one? If so, can I also keep it on this dell?

Please post what you think so far.

1) It should All work, If not you can probably send it back and get a Different model.
2) Depends on what you mean by Contrast
3) [url]http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824176084 [/url] Might be good, If not, just look in the Monitor section.
4) You can Legally only use 1 Key per computer, of course you can enter it on a different comptuer, but you are supposed to buy a new one, And again, its still possible.

1. It should work, but maybe not to it's fullest potential.
2. Eh?
3. Get a 22" ;)
4. No. If you put a harddrive from your Dell onto a new mobo, it'll ask for a new key, since your motherboard is your "computer". Taking a harddrive with an OS on it and putting it into a new "computer" will lock it down. It's to prevent piracy.

I'd recommend the G.Skill DDR2-1000 2x2GB kit. Very cheap, and its a great pair of sticks. I'm planning on buying another kit sometime soon.

Get Vista Ultimate x64.

I had to make some major changes on this update due to price. I just can't afford intel and after hearing that AMD is more for gaming, I decided to give it a try. This update is more off of price.

Why would AMD be for gaming? It's not as if they "optimize" their CPUs for gaming. Anyways, the GPU does most of the rendering for games.

Looks good. Other than not being a fan of AMD and mid tower cases (I like lots of room), you should be good to go.

~Gooda~

yeah as for as games go, when you see benchmarks for game under a CPU review, they have to drop the resolution down to 1024 x 768 to get the cpu to even do much of anything they are based on the GPU.

I had a AMD Brisbane 4800+ and I loved it, never had any problems, only reason I upgraded was to go Quad-Core, which I needed for what I do.

but to throw my honest opinion in there, everything looks good, I dunno about Rosewill PSU's... but not knowing is not saying good or bad.. it's not knowing... I hope it can handle the loads. big watts doesn't mean everything...

It is between these 2 motherboard cpu setups.... everything else is offical.

Intel Setup
[link=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115029]Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 65W[/link] ($185)
[link=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131030]ASUS P5B LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel[/link] ($102)

AMD Setup
[link=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103773]AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 125W[/link] ($160)

That Intel setup will rape the AMD. Look at the L2 cache ;)

+ it'll overclock really well if you do that. Ill help you with that if you do.

~Gooda~

I second the intel, I used to be AMD only, get that intel away from me kinda attitude... and well it's changed, I run on all Intel now... only AMD is Illustrial's computer, just cause I haven't gotten around to upgrading it yet.

My server runs on an Intel ;-)

BEfore intel core, i was all amd. But that was when you had to compare a p4... which was like frankenstine compared to the athlon xp /x2.
