We adopted a kitten on Sunday from a local shelter as a result much of my attention over the next roughly 2-3 weeks will be focused on taking care of and building good behavioral habits with our new family member. You may see me on the servers a little bit but dont expect me to be on daily (as I typically am).
Now for me gloat about my kitten cuz I'm proud of him and want online strangers to compliment him:
Hes a tortoise shell which means we've got a mutant cat because like calicos, tortoise shell coats are almost always female (1:3000 ratio male to female). This has to do with the red and black genes being exclusive to X chromosomes. In other words without being an XXY, or a mutant, male cats cannot be torties. Hes black with red briddled throughout which is what makes some of his hair appear brown but in a close up they are red. He has gray/white hair in brief portions as well. Additionally hes got yellow to green fade eyes with the centers being green (imagine if I was talking about a fade knife here). We've also been told by multiple people that he looks like a Maine Coon. The shelter was unsure of what his parents were because he was a rescue so guess I'll find out when/if he grows to 3 times the size of our other cats.
I've attached some photos for you to look at in my absense.
