I always enjoy looking at clips from other members funny or cool moments whenever they're on our servers, or just in competitive. I also enjoy watching montages of either "funny moments" or "sick clips", so I think mashing the two together would be a great idea.

Having some dropbox where people can submit clips to that they've hit on our servers, and then putting some great video editors we have to work to create a montage! There would have to be some requirements to post clips though, ie. being a member, maybe clips have to be hit on ego servers (comp clips are cool though), clips have to not have broken any eGO rules, etc.

This would help and entice people to get more involved within the community, something I would like to strive and advance even further! My suggestions have mainly been based around getting members that play on our servers to get more involved within the forums and deeper within eGO, which if people dive deeper, creates a higher chance of "customer loyalty" (sorry, marketing major).

These montages could be uploaded monthly, bi-monthly, or on special occasions (like promotions / awards).

This is how it goes in my mind:

A dropbox is open from April 1st until April 19th. April 20th, April 21st we select clips ("we" could be anyone, media team, LE, etc.). April 22nd - April 29th the video is edited and finalised, looked over by Media Team LE. April 30th, the montage is posted to the EdgeGamers YouTube channel!

Let me know how you guys feel about this. Obviously, we can continue to just post our clips in the General Gaming thread, but I feel this way we can get more people involved.

This idea sounds really fun and seems like it would allow more interaction on our YouTube page while involving the community more. +1 please add :)

Always think this is a good idea. The hard part is actually getting people to submit the clips and keep it up. But I always think it’s a fun thing.

Even just branching off this... we have some people who are enthusiastic about editing. Even having members send clips to them to edit and drop montages from our own members on YouTube would be cool. Doesn’t even have to be media teams specific.

In MT and we tried to do this, and it comes down to two factors

1. The clips aren't good but I have an idea that could alleviate this pain (well 2 plans)
2. Editors need to have the skill and time to edit montages if you feel you have the skill to do so join MT

And once again me and Godzilla tried to do this when Thorium was manager and the clips were in different aspect ratios, bad bitrates, etc. (Not all)

But the dude you should get input from is Cloud Cloud the big man

I remember that we tried doing this before, as Matrix said the problems were clip quality and have someone be the editor. Editing the montages would be a full-time gig within the Video Department and currently, our focus is on improving the quality of content not to increase the quantity. Although, as Matrix stated if there is someone willing to be a full-time video editor for montages only all you need to do is apply for Media Team and have the skills required.

I understand ~~

Maybe if this is further developed and polished, putting out a public recruitment for a couple editors to fulfill this position wouldn't be out of the question? Of course, with certain requirements. That's also why I gave like a 7 day window for editing, because I didn't want it to turn into a consistent 4 hour or so job. I thought it could be spread out, so whenever they get the time to just work on it for about 30 minutes!

For clip quality, this is kind of why it was suggested to have a couple days to look through the clips. We would need some sort of requirement, like recordings need to be in a certain bitrate, and uphold a certain quality, etc. If this isn't at all what you meant by the concerns, then disregard.

Also, it does not need to be an every month thing. This can just be an every special occasion sort of ordeal, like promotions and awards! I'm sure some editors within MT would love to work on something like this, because they get to see the clips and montages before anyone else :P I have an idea of someone who might be up for this position... but I'll wait to hear back criticism and suggestions first

1. Video editors has been open for a minute and every community meeting a message is usually put out, due to the e requirement you can't outsource this and expect it to be done for free and such

2. We had requirements in place but its usually a clip from a replay buffer and most people can't afford to tax their hardware like that and not lose frames. It used to be easier when people could do record xyz in console but valve blocked that

Yes! This suggestion was made before this was announced, and I'm excited to see how it plays out. I'll be pooling quite a bit of my efforts to hopefully get this jump-started and show more community involvement, hopefully getting more people involved through the forums that haven't been!

I have sony vegas i mean im a bit rusty on it since i havent used it in a year but if clips are sent i can see if im able to get my editing skill back or if im just rusty for good
