Hello! I've been religiously playing thw 24/7 Heavy Metal server on BC2 for a couple years now, figured it was overdue that I joined. A few things on my mind:

1. The "application to join" link on the Join page. How does that work? My mouse literally will not let me select BC2 in the dropdown menu. The blue highlight bar just skips over it, same issue with Minecraft but not any other game on that list. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to use the eGO clan tag on BC2 yet, because of this.

2. As someone who's been playing on the 24/7 Heavy Metal server for two years now, I've seen the "we are looking for admins" message in chat approximately a billion times. However, searching around the forums and this website, I can't find where I'm supposed to apply. I checked the FAQ listed in the navbar at the top of the page, and the FAQ in the New to Edge-Gamers forum, but I didn't see anything describing how to actually apply to be an admin. I saw some stuff about "admins in training" but nothing on how you become one. I apologize if I'm missing something obvious here, I never use any forums for any game/community so this is unfamiliar territory for me. I would really, really like to be an admin on the 24/7 HM server. I usually play very, very late at night (11 pm to 4 am, MST), and at those hours rulebreakers are not uncommon and admins are exceedingly rare.

3. Concerning the rules on the 24/7 Heavy Metal server. There's a rule "no camping in the uncap with vehicles", which is nice, but this rule does nothing about people who camp in the uncap as infantry, or on the AA gun. When one team has gone full passive camp mode, people camping in tanks, the AA, and as infantry are all hindering their team an equal amount by playing so passively, but only the people in tanks are actually breaking the letter of the rules. I think it would give admins a great tool to break up passive play if anyone camping in the uncap in anyway is breaking the rules, rather than just tanks and the occasional helicopter. I think the lettering of the rule should just simply be "no camping in the uncap," to cast a wider net without becoming completely unenforceable like "no camping" would be. Repeatedly being frustrated by this issue (and thought #4 below) is why I've registered an account and posted here.

4. Another thought on the 24/7 HM server's rules, a more general one though. The server policy for rulebreakers is warn, kick, then ban, and in my experience this does absolutely nothing to curb rulebreaking, particularly when it comes to griefing and baseraping. I've seen, countless times, baserapers get warned only after their 2nd or 3rd offense, then when they get kicked after their 4th or 5th, they just wait an hour or so to come back when no admins are online. I feel like warning baserapers with a kick, and permabanning them on subsequent violations, would greatly cut down on the number of repeat offenders on the server. Giving people a warning in the chat does literally nothing; everyone tunes out @rules as chatter, and the people who need to be warned are not the people aware enough to read the chat. I understand and agree with the principle behind W/K/B, but in practice I regularly see that system be all but ineffectual.

Not sorry at all for the wall of text, I had a lot on my mind before joining today.

Hey Letherfut.

I'll defer to leadership on answers to your questions. I just wanted to say I appreciate you joining up here to discuss issues.

Thanks DT. Where/how do you recommend I do that?

Edit: durr, misread you

Another question. Do I need to enter a game ID for BC2 on the MAUL page, if I already linked my steam account for it? It seems like the answer is no, since I can't find anything called a game ID anywhere in Steam, but I'm not sure.

Just talked to Major Trubble in game. As I understand it now, the process to become an admin is to join the forums (check) apply to and be accepted by the clan itself via the 3rd link on the "Join" page, upon that application being accepted you'll be told to use the "=(e)=" tag, and from there you'll get promotions as you earn them. Is this correct?

hello...im just wondering about the base camping point. If enemy captured all the flags, and has strong presence in front of your base - there is almost zero chance to leave base without being slaughtered. With this, you put losing team between 2 millstones. winning team and admin..
.

I do agree the #2 can be difficult to find especially since "we are looking for admins". Joining the eGO group is a necessary part and I'm glad to see you do that! I was told that the best way to get in line for admin was to show up in TS regularly, while playing as an =(e)=, you will be doing as admin and if you can't do it now will you do it later? I see some of our latest =(e)='s being very active in posting warnings of bad behavior out to players during the game and more importantly, posting ban requests when their warnings have been brushed aside, these get noticed!

Letherfut, I encourage you to move ahead with this.

1st and foremost , welcome to the team Letherfut , I see you all the time on our BC2 server and it is nice that you have finally made the jump to joining our community ( not Clan ) , and SlickDevel described the process perfectly , give warnings ( no more than 2 ) , some players like you say don't look at the chat very much . As an =(e)= that is pretty well all you can do , then put in reports in our Forums , specifically in Ban Request section , once you are an =(eG)= you can use basic commands and the /kick option , which gets very frustrating at times because the perp(s) just keeps coming back , but it is all part of the process to a higher echelon . Being in TS is a huge advantage , especially when an Admin is on and if there is not you can usually get in contact with Beemermarine ( by using the text option in TS ) or jtipton , if neither is available try another Admin or Manager ( you should familiarize yourself with a couple or few names ) , that person can give you advice on how to proceed or handle the situation themselves , the more active you are in our community the more you obviously will get noticed .

Thank you for joining , all the best , see you in battle Soldier :-)

Hey L Letherfut , welcome to eGO. As you've probably gathered by now, the reason you couldn't select BC2 or MC for your application was because your game IDs were not linked in our system (MAUL). You'll want to add them in here: https://www.edge-gamers.com/maul/index.php?page=editgameids

For some info on how we select admins, check out this thread: https://www.edge-gamers.com/forums/showthread.php?324292-How-Do-I-Get-Promoted-To-Admin

But, please do enjoy eGO for what it is and hopefully come visit our Teamspeak server - the Battlefield crew there are lots of fun.

It's just your impression!
The existing rules are perfect!

1st If you ban from the first or second that player will not return, and then over time he will not even participate in the server

2 ? If you ban the first or second warning you will overload the server with complaints that they did not know the rules just kicking is enough to start understanding the rules

OBS. when you do not have ADM online enter here on the server or TS and look for one to help you

3 ? The people camped are people afraid to go to war because they do not know the scenarios or because they do not understand how the game works proof of this is the number of people who do not even know that there is an AA battery to shoot down the helicopters in the B AMAZING flag as that every day you have to keep telling A VADS, SEED A VADS, LOOK A VADS. **** a vads, USE A VADS ... Every day you have to warn yourself. unfortunately they will only learn over time.
4 ? We have few BC-2 servers in the world that are organized to play like this EGO-SERVER

5 ? The rules are excellent, nothing should be touched in any way. It?s PERFECT ?there is no way to have an ADM 24h, and remember that before COD-19 every day we only have a good number to carry out a game is to leave from 18h BR ... otherwise the server is empty all day ... (see the statistics before COD-19)

Campers are problems just like snipers.
it ruins the game. But do what?
they play the way they know it.

sorry my english... google kkkk

Letherfut as for your questions,

3.) The AA would be considered a vehicle if someone is camping on the one is spawn. It has the same characteristics as a vehicle, just not moble. It has to be taken out by explosive weapons (rockets, missiles, or mortars) that would kill anyone standing or spawning close by. So no one should be allowed to camp on the AA. If there is a helicopter in range of course anyone can get on the AA in spawn and fire on the chopper, or use it to fire on any close by infantry, but once the threat is eliminated they should dismount and move out. Infantry should push out as they can at all times.

4.) Our W/K/B policy is not running the server rules in chat, if someone is breaking a rule a Admin or member should put the appropriate warning in chat at that time, IE.( No entering enemy uncap for any reason.) If the players do not leave immediately then Admins should kick them. If they return and repeat the infraction they should receive a Tban and a Ban request should be posted to see if further action is required. When used properly this is effective and has served quite well on our servers. "e"'s and even pub's can put in Ban requests for players that break server rules, Leadership will review chat logs and see if they were warned and continued to ignore the rules, if so they will be banned from the server for the appropriate time to help them understand that we will enforce the rules.
