I think IF you guys do this, it should be a gang thing and should be like 2 million credits to buy or some absurd amount that people would need to grind credits and it would actually be an achievement

I think you should make it member's only and everybody starts off as battle scarred. As you play more you unlock the option of well worn, then field tested, etc. Then eventually maybe stat track. This would encourage member's to play more.

If we can do this, I think this is the way to go.

Having it available to everyone is I think the best way to approach this system.

I could personally go either way on this. I feel like its cool and all for player who don't have skins to play on their favorite CS servers with skins that make the game more enjoyable, but somebody said it is and extra plugin that could cause problems on the server. If we were to implement it, Possibly limit it to DS, =[e]= tag and up? That way we could have a few new players donate or join EGO.

I don't think the goal should be to have players donate, but just join the community. I don't think it ever needs to be a DS only.

Wow thats kind of a cool idea, probably difficult to pull off though.

Thought we couldn't get them due to a TOS thing.

I also thought the whole !knife and !skin plugins were like against Value/Steam's TOS. If it isn't and it does get added, I recommend it on certain servers of ours, like on Surf, and BHOP, and maybe TTT. Not so much on the jailbreak server.

Swap the GSLT from the servers to a dummy account if you plan on doing this, we don't want the eGO steam account being banned from hosting csgo servers

Valve stopped enforcing it, and even with the possibility of them enforcing it again they will give a warning first.

Minigames would work really good too. I think on Jailbreak it would work good because you can flex on how much kills you have on a knife for stat track or to show how cancerous you are.

I really like the idea of this if implemented safely and correctly. Definitely need to avoid "pay-to-use" if possible, as I agree it would have a more detrimental effect to the player base.

I think in an ideal implementation on JB (I'm not familiar with other servers interactions enough to speak on them) it would look like an =(e)=, =(eG)=, =(eGO)= only feature, accessible by unlock using large # of gang credits. If the difference in wear (i.e. battle scarred vs factory new) is implementable, then yeah throw that in as a possibility for consistent, loyal players to the server.

I do understand the contingent of players who might be against this due to having a large collection of personal skins, but I'm not exactly sure how to balance that out versus players that don't have them. I personally have a few skins, nothing super amazing, but I personally wouldn't mind other players without skins having access to this stuff if it meant they would have a more enjoyable time on the server.

The week before Valve released their guidelines on weapon skin plugins I wrote a plugin for a Warcraft3 csgo server that tied skins to your total combined class level, unlocking new weaopns at 100, 1000, 2000, 3000, and 4000 levels. I was dismayed when I had to scrap the whole thing almost immediately because Valve was about to start banning GLSTs. My point is, I could definitely do something similar for gangs and add various weapons for various amounts of credits.

That said, just because Valve issued a warning last time doesn't mean they will issue another warning before they ban GLSTs in the future. I personally voted no in the poll, but I would still be willing to code an integration to gangs if that's what leadership decides.

I think it would work for gangs, however. What about the rest of the CS community? If we were to add skins it shouldn't be a different system every server, that would be confusing.

-1 I think it makes our server more cash grabby if it is behind a pay wall and and kind of makes the whole gang !melee useless. but again its still against Tos and valve might start enforcing it again. But I'm open to your guys opinions it it as well.

Sometimes in life you just gotta take the risk for the reward that might outcome from us getting !knife and !ws not only if we made this e tag and up only perk getting us new members but implementing the battle-scarred idea that was mention would give players a reason to populate the server more for an even longer amount of time the only thing bad I see about this is it might make people to start afk in the server more instead of actually playing

Honestly depends on the server for surf/bhop/MG just give it to them for JB and TTT makes it so they have to earn it somehow this can be from DS or even from playtime. After x amount of hours, you can give them access to the command or even like peoples said make it member only.

Game Server Operation Guidelines
In July 2015 the CS:GO team reached out with a request to server operators to stop providing services that falsify the contents of a player’s profile or inventory:
————————————————————————

CS:GO community servers provide valuable experiences to players and communities, and are serving more players than ever before. Over the past month, 3.1 mln unique players were observed playing on community servers and this number keeps growing each month.

We’re aware that some server operators are offering to their players false inventories and/or profiles as a free or paid service via mods on their servers. These mods inaccurately report the contents of a player’s inventory and/or matchmaking status, devaluing both and potentially creating a confusing experience for players.

Therefore, we are asking server operators to remove any mods and plugins that falsify the contents of a player’s profile or inventory.

To be clear, the services that should not be offered on a community server include (but are not limited to):

– Allowing players to claim temporary ownership of CS:GO items that are not in their inventory (Weapon skins, knives, etc.).
– Providing a falsified competitive skill group and/or profile rank status or scoreboard coin (e.g., Operation Challenge Coins).
– Interfering with systems that allow players to correctly access their own CS:GO inventories, items, or profile.

For clarification, it is also not acceptable to provide players with custom models and/or weapon skins that do not exist in the CS:GO ecosystem.

If your server provides any of the above services then we request that you disable them. If for some reason you are unable or unsure of whether a particular plugin should be removed, feel free to contact us.

We will continue to monitor the players experience on community servers, and may reevaluate if further actions need to be taken to ensure that server operators comply with the request above.

(1) Do mods that provide custom knives (e.g., ‘vanilla’ Karambit or Bayonet knives) fall under the same restrictions as mods that spoof other inventory items like weapon skins or display items?
Yes, these mods fall under the same restrictions because they are generating/simulating items that are not owned by a player.

(2) Do mods that provide custom knives or weapons fall under these same restrictions when the items are only visible to the player holding the weapon?
Yes. Regardless of who can see the items, mods should not generate/simulate items that are not owned by a player.

(3) I use a mod that grants stock primary/secondary weapons and grenades to players through a gun selection menu. The mod only drops stock weapons and does not grant knives. Is this mod ok?
Yes, it’s fine to provide basic stock weapons to players via a mod.

(4) Assuming that I’m not granting an item that a player does not own:
-Is it ok to have a “remove all weapons”/“hide knife” function on a server?
-Is it ok to have a “knife drop”/“knife switch” function that allows a player to drop their knife (that they own) so another player can pick it up?
Both of these functions are fine. There are some game modes where it makes sense to have unarmed players (e.g., surf), and in a trading server being able give a player your knife to inspect is fine too. In general, letting players use what they own in a new way isn’t a problem.

(5) I’m using a mod that doesn’t spoof competitive ranks or coins, but it does adjust the scoreboard (e.g., a surf server where group tags represent skill rating, score is your rank on the server, MVP is your completion percentage, etc.). Is this ok?
At the moment we have no issue with mods that modify scores or player names in the scoreboard.

(6) What is the time frame for making these changes?
Ideally these changes would be made immediately, but we understand if server operators need a few days to make their adjustments. We’ll continue to monitor over the next week, and will post a notification if any further action needs to be taken.
————————————————————————

In January 2016, we permanently disabled Game Server Login Tokens belonging to server operators that were providing free or paid services that falsified the contents of a player’s profile or inventory. The Steam user that generated the tokens is now also permanently restricted from creating new GSLTs.

A new Steam user account associated with a new qualifying phone number (http://www.steamcommunity.com/dev/managegameservers) will be required to create new GSLTs.

To avoid future disruption game server operators are best advised to comply with CS:GO server operation guidelines described above.

TLDR IMHO; I don't think we should.

You're instantly outclassed in most cases if your server isn't running these plugins. If I was deciding between joining two different 1v1 servers, two different MiniGames servers, or really two of any server, I'd most likely favor the one that advertises the fact that they're running these. There's no denying that many players find enjoyment in using certain knives / skins and not everyone can afford their dream inventory. They're super simple commands that don't interfere with the game in any significant way.

If Valve were to, for some reason, start enforcing the rules they implemented years ago it would not be instantaneous, which was already touched upon. Additionally, even if it were, that doesn't mean the end of all of the servers. They ban the server operator, so you'd just need to have someone new be the host. There's also plugins you can setup where you buy tokens in bulk for cheap and they constantly change your tokens so you don't get banned which could be added as a backup if it were to happen.

A lot of people are worried about them breaking, but nothing tends to break with these plugins. You can even go further than just knives and weapon skins and add the other stuff like gloves, coins, MM ranks, etc. The other part of the debate seems to be centered around whether or not to allocate these things as an incentive for donating. You can, just don't do that for the main two (or three, I'd give !gloves to the public too) and instead give them the extra ones. This is assuming you guys would be willing to add anything beyond knives and weapon skins.

Very good idea to add these to the servers and advertise them in the server titles - they're undoubtedly very appealing.
