Once again im Bored at work, so what was/is your dream job growing up? Did you achieve it?* If not what are you doing now actually*

The ones with stars are for those who it applies to..

My dream job was to be a Police Officer..... I didn't achieve it because my mom said i wouldnt be allowed to live at home if i was to become one.... I am currently a Plumber

Want to be a lab tech for in forensic science. Pulling out the old man in me, but think Greg Sanders from the original CSI show. Loved chemistry as a kid, aced it in high school, but physics kicked my ass and knowing I would need it in college, I switched to History and Education.

So now I'm currently a teaching aide for a middle school. My plan is to pick up my special ed cert once this is all over since everyone I work with says I'm a perfect fit for it.

My dream job was and still is to be a business advisor in a Latin American country.

Still a long ways away from achieving this

Right now I am doing COVID emergency relief work in the major cities I live by, just got the job recently.

My dream job was to become a Software engineer, but unfortunately I can't stand college anymore so I decided that I was going to join the Canadian army to become a Communication and Information System Specialist, I am just waiting for the Covid19 to go away. While I'm waiting, I work in a decontamination team to destroy that corona virus.

Dream Job is a Linux System Administrator, currently studying for the Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification as it seems to be the most valued industry standard cert for this career.

Seriously? That sucks, I'm sure there is more to that story. My main dream job is also being a Police Officer with my objective in the career being somewhere in cyber security whether it be local, state or federal. I'm currently a 911 Dispatcher just waiting for someone to fill my upcoming vacancy so I can transfer to patrol as I recently turned 21.

I thought it was to become a cop... Honestly not the lifestyle I was hoping for or expected...

I dream of becoming a great humanitarian doctor with Doctors Without Borders but right now I'm just putting in a lot of work in night shifts at ER or pediatric ER but its really fun cuz here in France you get to be a student for a very long period so in terms of income its bad until the age of 30 so its hard to make ends meet so I have to do all these night shifts and be stressed because of the pandemic...

Veterinarian, and as for my age I cant achieve this yet.... hoping so though :)

Unrealistic, I want to be an artist that performs on big stages. I would love the spotlight and to have a fanbase of my own.

Semi-Realistic, I want to be an Audio Engineer / Technician for big venues. Music festivals & Concerts preferably.

Most Realistic, I will probably go down the path of becoming a Marketing Advisor for a B2B or Financial Agency

Wanted to be a neurologist forever, I am now an electrical tech in training.

My dream job would probably to own my own company so I don't have to work a 9-5 boring job, always wanted to become a successful businessman

my dream job is to join the military thats my plan for after highschool

Real world business owners are the hardest workers of them all. 9-5? yea...

I am currently on track for the medical field aiming at orthopedic surgery. Lots of debt ahead so I am looking into the military. Plan B is CSI, always had a love for science.

Always wanted to be a firefighter when I was little (family history). Ended up playing soldier in the Army for a bit and now work as a police officer (sorry hose dragger family).

Dream job?

Does being a pimp count???

(just kidding)

Dream job.. I think that changes are you get older.

But I've probably had it... for me anyways.

I've always loved computers and working with them. My undergrad is in Computer Science and my masters is in Software Engineering.

I've gotten really lucky with my employment. Almost a "dream job". I work for a private company.. that is big. I've been there 20+ years. When I started, it was "mom and pop". Now, we have offices/branches world wide.

I was at the "ground floor" for that growth. Doing everything from spending years designing and creating extremely interactive websites.. to database programing.. to specializing in N-Tier software (server-to-server type stuff)

Spent over a decade (same company) writing software that communicates with aircraft WHILE in flight...commercial AND military. Probably the coolest one was NASA partnering with us to communicate with the avionics on the space shuttle. Which I single handedly did myself :)

Been to different parts of the U.S on business trips to meet clients.. had clients come visit us and ask for me by name, just to say Hi.

Not bad. See, most developers get "shoe-horned" into one little thing.. one little area. I got to do it all. I get to meet with heads of different departments and even clients themselves.. spend time figuring out exactly what they want... then I get to do it. "ME".

Sometimes the project would be to large (i.e time consuming) so I've had to pull in other people and delegate/supervise.. but then, that's yet another role I gotten to do.

-----

Now.. I'm in my 50's. Just turned 52 a few weeks ago. I know.. old fart compared to most of ya. For you "young ones".. your viewpoint on life WILL change.

I'll NEVER forget something that happened 8 or 10 years ago. Each year, the wife and I usually spend a week+ down in the Cancun area. We both scuba dive.

One of the dives we went on, the head dive master (the guy in charge) was an American. From New York City. He was an E.R doctor for a hospital.. you know, like the ones they have on T.V. One year, he went on vacation/diving in Cancun.. just like I was doing... and decided to stay. He said it was the best decision of his life. Gets paid to scuba dive. He teaches it.. takes "tour groups" out.. NO stress. Just enjoying life.

I've never forgotten that. Now, I'm sure there is more to his story..but still, to do that.

Financial security goes a LOOONG way. It really does. But.. at some point in your life, you start to slow down. You start to WANT to slow down.

So my dream job now? Yea.. would still be that pimp daddy.
