My STEAM got hacked and banned

I cant play any steam based games right now because today i found out somebody hacked my steam account and hacked on it and GOT IT BANNED. I dont know if it was hacked but a long time a go my friend gave me his account, so maybe he messed with it. Is there any way i can retrieve my acc. back and get it unbanned.


Can some take off my admin for right now.

Does anyone know how to report this to STEAM, i have never reported anything to STEAM.

Do a search on the .us and .org site. I believe they posted what to do, its something on the steam website.

If your VAC banned, They will not Unban you, Since It could be you using Cheats, and then telling steam you were hacked, So they will not Un-VAC ban you.

It doesn't matter, In VAC's eyes Its your account, your responsibility.

It still doesn't matter, I've had 2 of my account hacked and VAC banned, VAC won't do anything about it, Its still your responsibility, Sorry to be so harsh.

That sucks a friend of mine had that happen and yes they will not unban if you were banned VAC-wise. It really sucks but you will have to get a new account. Let this be a lesson to everyone else: never give away your account information to anyone ever! Even if it is your friend. Thats how it happened to my buddy he gave his password away to someone he thought he could trust. I understand that Ghost may not have given out his info but other risky behaviors include: allowing your friends on your computer alone!, downloading pirated software movies etc...!, having a simple password! or even sharing the same toothbrush as a hacker?.... lol no j/k. But they will not unban you Ghost. I would suggest an anti-virus progam that can scan your e-mail to prevent viruses, malware like this and others. For the moment you will have to get a new steam account and purchase another copy of counter-strike. Its really sad that this happened, my friend opened a program that was sent to him when he gave his e-mail to someone he met in-game. It could happen to anyone even YOU. So be careful who you give your e-mail address and other info to.

note: if you wanna make a "incident report" you have to make a new account, then, inside the link i just gave out, it says "Once you’ve created a Steam Support account, or if you already have one, click here to create an incident report."

Yeah, You Can get your account back, but If its VAC banned, you cannot be un-Vac banned.

ya so u have to buy a new account, which sucks so much

before you get too hasty on the situation, try deleting the file ClientRegistry.blob, when you open steam it will redownload.. that could be your issue right there.

you can also try deleting everything in Steam installation directory (c:\program files\steam\ by default.) EXCEPT steam.exe and the steamapps directory, the start up steam again, and it will update itself.

They may not work, but then again they might.. so its worth a try
