Nick's Person of Interest Review

[Luna]

An ex-CIA agent and a wealthy programmer save lives via a surveillance AI that sends them the identities of civilians involved in impending crimes. However, the details of the crimes--including the civilians' roles--are left a mystery.

So I just finished my 3rd re-watch of this show and I have to say it's just as enjoyable and impressive to me as the first time I ever watched it. So let's break it down into 3 main categories. Story, Characters, Personal Enjoyment.


Story: The general plot of the first few episodes unfolds as a typical Crime of the Week type show. The main characters get a "Number" correlating to a person and have to figure out what crime the person is going to be involved in, victim or perpetrator. The plot starts to broaden out over time and an over-arching frame plot that spans multiple episodes, and seasons, starts to come together. You'll see a lot of the same characters make repeat appearances and a lot of plot points revisited. I won't give any spoilers but the shows ramp up to and the series finale is one of the most well executed series finales I've ever seen and definitely my favorite.

Characters: All the characters feel very real and their motivations very grounded. Some characters are definitely a little more unhinged than others, but they feel developed enough where you can understand their actions and reasoning. The character development is done very well and something that I feel most TV dramas fail to match. I fell in love with the main cast and even some of the series recurring villains.

Personal Enjoyment: I feel like this show has a little bit for everyone. If you're a fan of crime dramas or Hollywood espionage I'd highly recommend the show. It's a very fun watch and very bingeable. There's humor, suspense, drama, and plot twists aplenty. The banter and relationship between the main cast is definitely my favorite part of the show and it keeps you engrossed in every episode.

Overall I can't recommend this show enough and I highly encourage all of you reading this to at least give the Pilot episode a watch. The full series is available on US Netflix, and I'm sure some TV service providers may have it available for streaming through their own services as well.
