Names with special characters appear broken

Please describe the issue in as much detail as possible.

My Steam and forum username is ein Stück Scheiße, but when I visit MAUL or DAPS it shows up as ein Stück Scheiße instead.

What should be happening instead?

The username displayed by MAUL and DAPS should use the same encoding/database collation (not sure how it's all setup behind the scenes) as the forum's database to prevent any difference in display.

Please describe how to replicate the bug in as much detail as possible

Create an account with any special characters like ü (u with umlaut) or ß (sharp S/eszett) and sign in to MAUL or DAPS

I believe you're only allowed to create names with English characters. So this problems may be why you're not allowed to create funky names.

Hey Z zuckerlos , sorry for the delay in responding to your issue.

Opening up member names to special characters pose a connectivity issue to certain games, such as Minecraft, which can not support the same characters, as say, CS:GO. Since MAUL implementation plugins force players to wear their forum names, it wouldn't make sense to allow special characters in MAUL or on our forums.
