Greetings folks,

Straight to the problem, when the the server is announcing the vote for the next map the chat and the voice chat turns into a war zone of screams and yells.

Solution: Mute while the voting system is active so everybody can vote in peace.

Ups:
Everyone can vote in peace.
Less spamming in voice chat.
More players choosing what they actually feel for.

Downs:
Not hearing detectives KOS:ing (Suggestion is to just mute innocents in order to still hear the KOS but detectives can also scream, which rarely happens tbh).
Not being able to communicate in voice chat.

Influencing the vote used to be not allowed. Muting everyone seems a little harsh.

I'd be personally all for not allowing the vote to be influenced on TTT and JB

In TTT, It IS allowed. Rules clearly state that you may influence the vote on TTT.

On the subject, -1.
Sure, when the server is full, this does happen, the problem you describe; but staff should be on, and they should be handling this when it comes up. Muting everyone because a few individuals are breaking the rules is NOT the way eGO handles things like this (For example, Silent Rounds are Strongly disadvised & discouraged, if not straight up against the rules; my source on this is a convo with Custom regarding voted silent rounds)

Aside from the point, as you mentioned it would disrupt gameplay, as roles that rely on communication, like detectives, would be unable to do their jobs effectively.

One final thing, I don't know about everyone else, but I don't typically choose a map because people start screaming a number or a name in chat.
Maybe it is part of the meta, but to me, I already only choose the maps I feel like seeing, not whatever is popular or what someone screams.
(The only exception being when there is a map I strongly dislike in the vote, or any "bad" maps)
