What is your favorite kind of music? How did you get into that music?

As the title suggests, this is a discussion about how you got into your fav genre of music, and what about it you like. I'll start:
My favorite kind of music is Thrash metal, thought i really enjoy some classic rock like Beatles and Zeppelin and my man Hendrix. I started listening to my own music (as opposed to whatever my dad played in the car) in about 8th grade and it was all like led zeppelin and generic songs like that, but after being exposed to slayer i couldn't go back... Something about the rawness of thrash metal really appeals to me, which is something i still feel from a lot of live Hendrix and zeppelin recordings, and stuff like that. Maybe the fact that i play guitar influences how i feel about certain songs, cuz i know how it is to play them(?) That being said i still love a lot of other bands and songs from all across the spectrum.

i listen to all types of music, i need to make a playlist tbh. But i kinda just put something on replay till im tired of it lol
But, when i was younger my friend got me into tyler, the creator, which subsequently gave me the same CHERRY BOMB.
 
Been listening to nujabes lately, i like a good blend of music, generally rap or jazz. Some artists or groups wu tang, public enemy, de la soul, tyler the creator, kanye and lots more.
 
my favorite band of all time is twenty one pilots. i really enjoy alternative rock music and indie. some of my favorite bands are cage the elephant, neck deep, waterparks, pink floyd and alot of others. i also enjoy halsey, rex orange county, saywecanfly, cavetown and alot more. my cousin got me into the alternative type music.
 
I really like, New pop music really, like from ed Sheeran, imagine dragons, Justin Beiber, but I also like the old style rock, like ACDC, bon jovi, Survivor

I listened to varied artists growing up, with my father being a man who only listened to country and a mother who was essentially a metal-head. lots of rock and metal, but slowly ive grown to enjoy almost all genres.
Now i just usually listen to duo/trio rock bands with big sound. some notables:
Muse (first 4 albums mostly)

I feel like people are going to read this and scoff but, mainly "underground" rap, and a little of he more mainstream lyrical (NOT MUMBLE) rap.

I mostly listen to Heavy metal now, but I grew up listening to rock. I started listening to more heavy metal music when I started playing guitar. I'd say my favorite heavy metal band is as I lay dying.
 
I can't really categorize what I listen to, but if I were to try and do it, I would say Semi-Alternative Rap/Hip-Hop/Rock, as well as pop music from about a decade ago. Some of my favourtie artists/bands are probably:

Honestly, though you give me a song and if I enjoy it I'm just slapping it on my playlist, don't really have restrictions
 
Well, my mix is a bit of everything tbh. Mostly Metalica and Sabaton, though there's stuff like John Denver, Payday 2 OST, Nightcore of patriotic songs. So, yeah.
 
I only started developing my tastes exactly one year ago! There are too many to mention all of them, but here are the bands I’ve been listening to in order,

1. The Decemberists
Indie folk band that I heard being played as a kid. Favorite albums have been their debut, Castaways and Cutouts and The Crane Wife which is considered their best album. Really my Dad introduced me to them and we have front row tickets! Unfortunately they postponed for a year, but I am still very excited.

2. Radiohead
I learned about this Alternative Rock group when I came across rateyourmusic.com, and I’ve found bands from there. OK Computer, Kid A, and my favorite In Rainbows are the albums I’ve really listened to. They’re highly acclaimed, but not my favorite.

3. The Strokes
Rock band from New York, I’ve been really into their first and sophmore releases Is This It and Room On Fire. Since 2003 they’ve tried to experiment with their music but after three mediocre albums, they delivered The New Abnormal this year and it has been a home run.
 
i love post-hardcore emo most, though i'll enjoy literally anything punk rock (except for that annoying ass 15 y/o fucking pop punk shit that ppl somehow still stand, though big props to newer artists bc they make good shit)

For me it’s about anything, but rap. I only dislike it because I don’t understand the words of the song. My favorite is country.
