I just got into pc gaming earlier this year so i was going off what parts were good in 2010. and based off that i was thinking most computers will only be good for at most 5 years, i see know that im wrong lol.Not the finest logic - spend more now and it’ll last years. I had the same machine from 2012-2019 and played tons of new games without issue, with only a GPU upgrade in 2014 or so. Spend more now and upgrade less later.

It's kind of not comparable at all. The PC hardware landscape changed radically since that time. I don't even think Intel's i-series was out yet and we were all rocking Core 2 Quads. That's like dinosaur tech now. At this point though, things have kind of slowed down in terms of big changes, so investing big up front tends to leave you satisfied for quite some time.

yeah like if you have a 1080 there isnt much reason to buy a 2080 since graphics all kinda look the same now if u arent going for 200+ fps or 4k shit.
Just another thing to keep in mind: The five year time frame worked for the older disk hard drives, which with everyone using SSDs or NVMEs, doesn't really apply that much now. That includes if you're using disk drives for large backup storage as the wear and tear is much lower than when we used them to host the OS.
It'll be interesting to see what happens with CPUs in the next few years as it feels like Intel has started to drop the ball and AMD is taking advantage of it since the A64 days.

I know you had a few people dislike your post, but I can kind of see why this makes sense, especially when it comes to video cards and things of that nature. I use kind of with prejudice here.
Right now, in my opinion, computer parts have been the most expensive I have ever seen them since I was 9 and first started tinkering with them. My current build isn't a state of the art PC, but I can play any game I want at any setting I want. I didn't have to spend 2-3k to get that ability.
But, for this gentleman, I think your post was irrelevant, as is mine here, but I wanted you to know I can understand where your post comes from.

Nah, $2500 gets you well above mid-tier. Majority of parts this user selected for this build are pretty well on the high end of things too. I consider my own build mid-tier and it was around $1400.
The way I price PCs:
Low-tier would be sub-$800/900
Mid-tier would be up to $1500, depending on a few things (monitor cost included?)
High-tier would definitely be+$2000.
I personally think the $1200-$1500 budget gives the most bang-for-the-buck, and has a lot of different combination of parts you can do to fit this budget. Not to mention that if you got solid parts like the motherboard, and CPU, you may only need to replace one or two parts every couple of years or so if you want to stay on the upper-end of performance (GPU).
