Well here is this thing, I went to Best Buy cause i needed a new headset. So the cheapest (and biggest) one i could find was this USB one. Now Walmart Security and I came to this wondering... How does USB sound actually work. Does it come from the sound driver that i have installed, and then links it to my USB port? I know it wouldnt come off of my onboard, because i do not have the drivers for it. OR does it just create its own space time continum and just go from there? Idk, any suggestions?

Thats what we thought until his audio wasn't working in game, so he disabled his soundcard and all of his audio started working, and sense his on-board audio isn't even installed and does not work, what is doing it? !dodge There must be something we are overlooking here.
i have a usb one, wen u plug it in it installs automatically, then u have to go into your sound settings and make sure the main audio is set to ur head set and the mic is set to ur head set. its usually in contral panel, sound settings

yes i have it working right now, we are just wondering where the sound comes from? like what interprets the sounds, and sends it out in the form of sound, because thats usually the sound cards job, but if there is no sound card that i have enabled right now? that is what we are looking for

USB headsets usually have their own sound device built into the actual headset... I have one, and I stopped using it because of this, if you say, have a nice sound card and get a USB headset.. then you wasted your money on 1 of the 2...
mainly because most of the nice USB headsets to save on cost and well the fact most companies don't have their own audio cards have to use cheap C-MEDIA codecs.
Sound cards besides the X-Fi and the higher end ones, don't need their own processor, they are just chips that interpret audio and use software codecs to translate it into what you hear.

haha thanks that is really the answer i have been looking for. Although i actually never thought of the actual headset having their own built in sound device. And yes i bought a USB becuase the sound card i have is not very good, and i needed a new headset
