Building a new computer

I need Ram, a motherboard and Processor 2 out of 3 done.

Processor:Intel Quad core Q660
RAM: Patriot Viper 4g (2x2gb) 1066
Motherboard unkown. anyone have these motherboards or have a little info on them?

Asus Striker II
Asus Maximus
Asus rampage

well looks like to me as far as those boards... since no links were given, I went and found asus boards called by those names... 1 board uses DDR2, and the other use DDR3... so depending on your ram that should make it easier... and as far as the 2 DDR3 boards... 1 is Intel one is Nvidia... plan on going SLI? those questions should really make it a LOT easier to choose out of those 3

but ddr3 is much more expensive then ddr2 and you need to make sure your mobo can handle a quad core

but i know you can buy a 23gb 4th quadrant of the sector in the left hangar of the fingernail for only 23 yen.

ddr2 is the cheapest and theres really reason to go to ddr3 right now and i cant even tell much of a difference between the 2 yes ddr3 is faster but ddr2 works fine and ddr3 is more expensive and this mobo

the gains of ddr3 over ddr2 are so small for the price right now it isn't worth it. Also I've been hearing bad things about ASUS lately on a lot of forums. I'd maybe consider a nice gigabyte board. Also, I don't know what the budget for you is, but I would strongly recommend that you buy one of the new 45nm yorkfield cpus (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3826350&CatId=2758). It has a faster front side bus, the 45nm manufacturing process makes the chip run more effectively as well as reduces heat. Also the cache is twice as big as the 6600 so it'll perform much better. The above link offers a nice alternative to the extreme chips for a much more reasonable price
