Karaoke Night?

Hey all. Friendly neighborhood Barry Tortellini, Bravo Tango, etc, here.

So as someone of you may know, I do a lot of singing in my time outside of playing games. I find it enjoyable and it helps me handle with the stressors life throws at me. I’ve been reached out by a few people just today, and about 10 in the last month asking if I’m gonna push more for a karaoke night. Well, here it is!

Why a karaoke night?
Karaoke nights are meant to be fun, not a competition. If you’ve ever been a part of one, they’re a place where you laugh and have a good time. It’s not a judgmental space; rather, it is a place to kind of sit back of just enjoy what’s around you.

Who would host a karaoke night?
I could be wrong, but this would be a member services deal.

What if I can’t sing?
As my choir teacher says who, by the way, has one of the highest reputations worldwide for his work, anyone can sing. It’s about how you present yourself, your confidence, picking a song you’re comfortable with, and just being yourself. Seriously, I doubt there’s a person in this community that can’t sing happy birthday, and I doubt even more that all of you have not sung in the shower, in the car, or when you’re home alone. There’s a song for everyone!

Overall, I think an event like this would be absolutely incredible for a community bonding experience. We can show each other what we like and respect one another just a little bit more.

Just here to say that karaoke night has been hosted by other divisions in the past, even just groups of people, it's never been division specific, tf2 just hosted most of them.

Absolutely true here. Karaoke night has been hosted by people other than TF2. To claim an event for the community and discourage other people from doing it is messed up though (look at me using nicer words than usual). When CSGO wanted to start a TTT server, the GMod leadership team at the time helped them make it. It's the same thing. That would've been insane for GMod LE at the time to say "No! TTT is GMod only!!" Like, no. It's enjoyable for the members and at the end of the day, that's the only thing leadership should care about. Comparing it to black mesa btw was wild and inaccurate. Black Mesa (as far as I know) literally can't be hosted in any other game because it's a TF2 map only in TF2. Anybody with a mic and time to kill can host a karaoke night. If it's enjoyable for the members of EdgeGamers and the members of EdgeGamers want it, then the members of EdgeGamers should get it. This whole idea that this event belongs to one division only is wild. I don't know where anyone came up with that, but please, for the sake of members everywhere, cut it out.

I know once a month seems doable but when that was tried before, the turnout was much less. Once every other month is as often as I'm willing to do simply because the turnout is much better and it isn't just the same two or three people singing over and over (as much as I love your lovely voices, this gets old very quickly).

That being said, Minty and I will be working with TF2 leadership to organize a karaoke night in early November, likely the 6th or the 13th so keep an eye out for that post

I agree that once a month is probably too much and having a bigger turn out is for the best. No one wants to hear the same 2-3 people sing every Karaoke lol.

We are working on getting one going SOON! We are working on contacting Minty and Emmy to see if they will either do one, or give us the blessing to do one on our own. We ARE working on it. The Rona has messed up the usual way of doing it, so we are working on options. Please be patent.
