Got me a new comp finally but i built it this time around....

i got:

Ares Raidmax Case (450 power pack + 2 Case cooling fans) = $89.99
GigaByte S-Series Mother Board (GA-EP35-DS3L) Supports up to 10GB DDR2 Ram = $94.99
3.2GBx2 4MB cache Intel Duo core Processor $189.99
Cool Master processor cooler $10.99
4GB (2GBx2) Ram = $89.99
Maxtor 500GB HDD = $89.99
GeForce 8800GT = $250 got for $150 plus $50 mail in rebate
DVD Burner/CD Burner = Free
Windows XP = Free + Service pack 2 = Free

congrats! if you want it even faster, go google "Overclocking computers" and u can get it twice as fast!
 
o yea i decided to just keep it where its at... i do have the "aftermarket" cooling fan to overclock it but that wont be happening i just wanted to make sure it keeps that thing as col as possible...
 
you can easily get a good gaming PC for under $1000... that's a great computer he has there, and it's times like this that make me wonder why people spend $1200+ that will still have out of date parts by the end/next year no matter how much they spend on it.

When I say out of date I don't mean slow, or can't play the games, I mean things like.. dye shrinks and added cache or new features to chips... or like a new type of memory that's faster or cheaper... small things like that. Might not make a big difference but only takes 1 really good one and BAM.. your $1200+ computer just got pwned by some $800 comp...
 
Well haha i dont care if my puter gets pwned... as long as it runs pretty much anything i throw at it, its a good puter in my mind

as for the new pc... very nice, and cheap (<---- Best part :P)
 
sorry i didnt mean to put X2 on that... and the board supports up to 10 GB of ram... i only am running 4GB i might get 2 more 2gb sticks soon...
 
nice looking setup. if you do overclock I'd maybe looking at a little higher end cpu cooler. I'm a fan of zalman or TRUE 120
 
yea i was thinkin of goin with a zalman even if i didnt overclock... nothing wrong with a lil extra cooling...
 
That board has 4 DIMM slots, and each slot supports a 2GB DIMM...I don't know how you'll get 10GB in it.

Before you even think of Overclocking, do a LOT of research. You can really damage a piece of hardware with a single mistake. One guy I know didn't seat his heatsink correctly and accidently put almost 1.8v on a 45nm CPU. The thing fried when he put it through Prime95 to test stability...
