Hey guys, so I just want to get some clarity in understanding the AMD architecture. So LTT just released a video talking about the Ryzen 5 series cpus & about how they're dominating the market right now. He also talked about how they can be used in really any motherboard, but I did some searching and there are some motherboards that specifically support the current 3rd gen with future gen cpus.

I just found out that ASRock made a micro version of the same board, which seems to be just missing 1 pci-e x16 & 2 x1 slots & that appears to be the difference in the $15.
Aside from that, the only thing holding me back is the memory & of course memory has definitely come a long ways since the start of the ddr days. Ill admit that I haven't really studied ram since I think ddr2, so if there's any major breakthrough that I need to understand, feel free to enlighten me. I would like to state that I dont give a rip about the RGB stuff (at least not right now since im a college student & as such budget is tight & flashy stuff is the least of my concern). I do remember getting G.Skill for a while, but wondering if there's better competition out there now (I believe I went after G.Skill because of them being budget friendly).
