1. No Foul, Degrading, or Racist Remarks allowed
2. No Griefing
3. No Inappropriate or Disrespectful Sprays, Names or Avatars are Allowed
4. No Cheating, Cheat Scripts, Barrier Jumping, Map Exploits or Hacks Of ANY Kind
5. No names, sprays or avatars that advocate or oppose a political figure, political stance, religion or nation
6. No Arguing with or Impersonating an Admin
7. Do Not Disrupt The Server In Any Way
8. Support the Admins And Other Community Members
9. Use Only One Name While Gaming Here
10. DO NOT PESTER ADMINS

Everyone in the clan should recognize this list. Especially since everyone has signed off that they read it before ever putting on their =(e)= tag. There's a lot more to being an =(e)= than just these 10 rules though.

=(e)='s are our first line of defense on the servers. There are a lot of you out there and we encourage you to help out your fellow clan members even if they are higher ranked. However, helping out doesn't necessarily mean warning people who break the rules or arguing with trouble-makers. If there is an admin in the server please leave all warnings up to them. If you feel that something has been missed then feel free to make use of the admin chat option (u@) in order to alert an admin.

If there's an eGO in the game with you (s)he's in charge. If there's an eG on the server then it's their responsibility to communicate in admin chat BEFORE taking action in a situation. The eG's and eGO's already know about this though since they go through admin school when they get the big G. For all you =(e)='s out there we're going to go over some simple training so ya'll know what to do incase you're alone on a server.

Admins have the ability to use Admin Chat to chat between other admins and also to warn players when needed. So, just because you don't see the admins responding to issues doesn't mean they are ignoring it. A lot happens behind the scenes on a server that the public and =(e)='s don't necessarily realize.

Do...

...Try to keep clan members on every server
...Keep servers full
...Always wear your tag when playing on eGO servers
...Recruit new members
...Handle potential problems quickly
...Remain on the lookout for known hacker clans ("myg0t" "enhancedaim.com")

Do Not...

...Be afraid to enforce the rules
...Be afraid to warn or report other eGO members
...Be afraid to ask for help if you need it. In fact, we encourage this.
...Use key binds for language, spam, or recruiting.
...Ever advertise eGO on non-eGO servers
...Ever contradict an admin in open chat. As soon as you do this you not only demean the clan but you can cause greater mayhem than whoever was being disciplined. Take it up via a private means (PM, Email).

...Nudity

All sprays and avatar icons used on eGO servers should be PG-13 rated. No nudity is allowed. Girls in bikinis and other similar things are acceptable, because anyone can see them on television. Classical artwork depicting nudity is acceptable provided that the icon doesn't specifically call attention to the nudity. (Michelangelo’s David is fine... as long as it's not a close-up of the crotch. Grade-school children are taken to exhibits that contain these paintings and statues - everyone is familiar and accepting of them.)

...F10 'Jokes' (By default, F10 is a hotkey to quit the game.)

This kind of malicious humor is simply not tolerated on eGO servers. Users making these kinds of "jokes" should be warned and then kicked. Examples of this are a spray that says "Press F10 for Radar", or players responding to a new player asking questions by saying "Press F10". As with any other offensive spray, admins should attempt to remove or cover them.

...Swearing

This question is asked more often than anything else. TF2 has no swear filter, so the answer is not as simple as "if it passes the filter its fine". The general rule is that if you wouldn't say it in front of your grandmother or a child, then it's not appropriate on our servers. For instance, "damn", and "hell" are perfectly acceptable. Some words are acceptable in one form and not in others. "Ass", for example; there are many ways that this is fine. "smart ass", "jack ass", etc. Clearly, "asshole" is not.

Take into consideration the emotion behind a statement - things like "kiss my ass" are frequently not acceptable, even though the word "ass" isn't a problem, unless it is clearly said in good fun. We frequently say that if it passes television standards it's acceptable. It's a good point to start your thought process, but it's not always true; "Bitch" will pass many television standards, but it's clearly not acceptable on our servers to call someone a "bitch" or "son of a bitch".

If you need a player banned you can either visit ventrilo and find an admin, find someone through Steam Groups, or fill out a ban report just like the admin do. If you dot your i's and cross your t's we shouldn't have a problem banning someone. Make sure you check the contest a ban thread periodically incase there is an argument concerning your earlier request. Sometimes it happens, but usually the proof is in your favor. Easiest way to find someone's steam ID is look them up on the stats page.

Every so often you will run across an inappropriate spray or avatar.

What counts as inappropriate?
Let's say you spot a picture of a girl in a bikini, your best bet would be to let it slide. The key is to not over admin. Now, if you happen to see something vulgar with profanity, nudity, or pornography, then you should take action.

Ask the player to remove/change the avatar or to not spray the spray again. If they do not comply, take action just like you would if you needed someone banned. If there's no admin present use your own spray over theirs, but be ready to move it incase and admin comes in to check who's it is.

Many troublemakers will try and come back with quips about "But this game is rated M!" - one simple response is "Yes - M means Mature, so start acting it."

...Swearing in acronyms

"WTF", "FUBAR", "SNAFU", etc. These are marginally acceptable. Younger players aren't going to recognize what many of these mean. If players are using them way too often, tell them to calm down. If they don't listen, mute them. Things which insult or berate other players ("STFU" [shut the **** up]) are not acceptable and should be handled like any other swearing.

...Racial Slurs and Bigotry

These are not acceptable in the slightest and any user who uses one in chat or in a spray should be immediately kicked and banned. Usernames should be handled with _slightly_ more patience, because (like it or not) some people self-identify with these words. Players with usernames that include racial slurs should be asked to change their name, and if they don't respond in a reasonable timeframe (give them a minute or so), kicked and banned.

An example of a name that requires no warning at all is "IMPERIAL WIZARD OF THE K.K.K." (this user was actually banned from eGO servers on 1/21/08). There is nothing self-identifying about this name. If you see someone like this joining, wait for them to finish joining, get their Steam ID, and report them immediately. As always, post a thread in the Request Bans section.

...Political/Religious Speech

This is a game, not a podium for political or religious dissertation. Players should be warned that it won't be tolerated in names, chat, or sprays. Offending names should be changed. Kick (and ban, if necessary) re-offenders. This answer has some caveats; not all political or religious names are unacceptable. We have members whose names are "Bill Clinton" and "J3sus" - these are allowed because they are not trying to force a view on other players. Examples of bad names which we have seen recently are "RonPaul08.com", "Vote Hillary", etc.

...Websites or advertisements in player names or clan tags

These are not allowed on eGO servers. Admins should politely ask players to change their name twice. If they refuse, or ignore the requests, they should be kicked, and banned if they re-offend.

...Hackers

Some people are just good players and can appear to be hacking. Because of this, never accuse someone of hacking in game, or tolerate accusations from other players. Suspected Hackers are just that, Suspected Hackers. Do not brand them as guilty and demand they be kicked for hacking. Odds are your request will be ignored, unless you find proof. Don't spend your game time looking for hackers, but if someone's game play is COMPLETELY DISRUPTING THE GAME a demo can be made.
The most common forms of hacking are wall-hacks, aim-bots, and speed-hacks.

Recording a Demo (This is used if you suspect someone of cheating)

1. Open Up The Console
2. type record name_of_demo
3. Record What you Need
4. When your done type stop

...Spamming

Spamming is the excessive use of text or voice chat. Sometimes someone is intentionally being irritating, sometimes not. In either case, they should be given a gentle warning to lay off. Players who continue to spam will be muted or kicked if it continues.

...Griefing

This is a word used by clans such as myg0t to describe what they do to servers. They come in and cause as much grief to the normal players as possible.

Now that you're up to date with the workings of the server, it's your responsibility to assist by any means possible, without stepping on the toes of admins. It's your job as an =(e)= to assist, not take charge. If you're a good admin we'll find out about it when we see your ban requests, your questions, and your desire to help. But, before you can become an admin you have to show your willingness to follow. It won't do your reputation any favors if you're known for yelling at people over admin.
