my mx518 freezing

Ive had my mx518 for about 2 weeks now...
and bought a new mousepad a huge 11x16 regualr pad for it

my friend has the same mouse and it freezes he says about 1nce every month so much he doesnt even notice it

and his mouse pad is the same and very dirty...

well anyways my mouse freezes randomly and then comes back like resets...
i dont have any drivers installed b/c i am running vista and the mouse on bestbuy says windows xp so im not sure if i should install it or not ???

well i believe that you should be able to install the drivers. i do know of 2 or 3 people with vista and the same mouse, so i believe it should be compatible.

I've got the same mouse, and I have windows xp, so i dont know. The drivers should work with vista as well, as more and more things are becoming compatible with vista. Go on the logitech website and search for drivers, they will be the most recent ones. It may not be your mouse, and it may be your graphics card, does this only happen in game? If you are running a high tech game, with a low graphics card, or a low processor, it sometimes causes your mouse to freeze up for 5-10 seconds at a time. This goes on until your computer parts get used to the game.

well in cod4 somtimes i get it and in css a little less and in css 1.6 it happens alot so it might be i ahve a 8700m gt so idk Thanks !
