Pole-petition - Does eGO need a Goldrush server?

We definitely don't need one. I can understand some people would want one. This isn't an issue with a simple solution of just changing a map of one of our servers.

Goldrush is a very, very hardware intensive map to run. An enjoyable Goldrush server with 32 players is best enjoyed on a single dedicated server. Most eGO servers run 2 of our 24/7 maps. Any map that shares a machine with Goldrush will also suffer decreased performance. Goldrush is by no means gone forever, but money is required to run servers, and decisions were made on how to best use the money available now.

Donations and ad clicks are some of the ways you can contribute to the clan to help bring new servers and services.

The Council is doing it best by making sure the clan gets the most out of it money. Goldrush is a resource hog and they decided to cut it. As tiddy said, if you want servers then donate.

As others have said the primary reason is due to performance. However we have pl_heights, and my understanding is that they are looking at other pl maps. Personally i loved the goldrush style, but i didn't like the map layout that much. Hop onto heights its becoming a favorite of alot of peoples. It still lags but nowhere near as goldrush.

i dont think we need one because so many other servers have one it will be difficult to keep it full and up in the rankings. I say put our resources elsewhere

I'm bummed, when I saw this thread title I thought we were voting on whether we were getting a pole position version of Goldrush.

Also, while I'm not all that much of a fan of blackmesa (shoot me! aaaah!), Goldrush felt broken to me when I played it. That map was TOO defendable.

I obviously want another server, but I don't think it is worth any more than $10 a month.
And I *LOVE* blackmesa so I don't play on other servers much anymore

This has already been discussed and the reason is as woodstock said it takes up to much of the resources. We could have goldrush at the cost of 2 of our servers. Anyhow, the servers are not a debate unless the council chooses it to be so. If you have suggestions then they should be taken privatly to a council member or an advisor but should not be brought up in open discussion. Lock thread?

Goldrush is fun...but I'd say Black Mesa is fun too. So I'd say it doesn't NEED one.

Even if goldrush wasn't a laggy map, it is not a very good one. The spawns for the defense can easily be locked down by a demo, resulting in those ever so fun 5 minute wins. The other (new) PL map types are more fun.
