4/2/21 DOB Press Release

I am just going to make a suggestion here. Change what this is.

Have it so the "Law Makers" of the city passed this law. Makes it more legit instead of a supreme court making a law. Then, if the public wishes to fight this, they can start a class-action lawsuit against the city. Start with one of our Judges, and if people want to contest it move it to the States Supreme Court.

Then, everyone is happy.
The law is made, so it is in effect as of now, so the sheet is still public to the cops and DOJ right now, no issues there
If the people wish to take a lawsuit against the city, they can.
The Judges get actual RP regarding laws in the city.
If anyone wishes to contest it the "Supreme Court" can step in
We can have a REALLY cool RP scene. A time where multiple people can participate in a lawsuit. And to show that these things are possible.

This way, everyone is happy and we actually push this law through RP instead of just creating a law that cant be contested by the supreme court which is kinda weird.

I agree and it felt so personal and rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. Especially the accusations.
We could have used this to actually RP and done changes to the City's laws instead of just a fist coming down and saying "do this or find somewhere else to go" which has been more common than I'd like to see in a place I want to love and enjoy.
 
Im completely for this. People seem annoyed that they did not get a vote in this, but you realise you dont have a vote in this?
Either way the PD has acces to this, whether it be through the DOJ or having it public.
If you talk about making sense, a police officer shouldnt have to request properties for a raid, with a chance that properties are missing from the lists he receives, or a chance that the homeowner gets a tipoff.
Police still needs to follow their procedures on getting a search warrant for a property, and the homeowner needs to be notified after.
And not trusting the police? Police metagaming this info? If you see it report it. Come up with some proof before throwing accusations out there like this.
We have the DOJ, theyre not just there to help police catch criminals, its also to help the public catch the police on their mistakes.

I think the Leaders would be happy to address concerns of the few folks here that have concerns. You may want to consider talking about it on discord or teamspeak rather than lighting up this forum thread. That’s my best recommendation.

I think what I was saying was maybe if it had come up at the meetings more people would have heard about it.

I dont agree with your accusations Marco, that is blatant disrespect towards me.there is nobody else you can be hinting towards giving tip offs as I OWN D8. Also with your whole telling people to not throw accusations yet u do that yourself being a hypocrite

At no point were you targeted in what he said, The previous owner had done this and it was a general statement, Calling other people names is not becoming of an admin or anyone and it will not be tolerated. If the people in this post cannot keep things just and respectful you will lose your chances to discuss the matter. Speak respectful amongst each other and remember EdgeGamers is a punk free gaming community.
 
Inkery Inkery I do get that, but its not just him I've been informed what they have been saying about me, when all I do is work my ass off for the server to make sure no problems can arise again, I also get accused in discord via DM

i also wasnt calling someone a name.. hypocrisy is a moral position

I don't much care about this law, I'm just really shocked there was an 8-0 majority on this. Who the hell is a part of the "State Supreme Court" and why isn't there a roster of who's on it? Why are there no dissents from any of the judges about this?

It's really great to see randomly enacted laws with no chance of contesting or removing in an RP-focused server, really love to see it.

This guy gets it.. maybe he should be on the supreme court. Not sure how we ended up with the one we've got. It's not becoming of the government to be dismissive of dissent and to disregard any sense of community. We have a government for community not for ego. Oh .... wait.. its in the name. ****.

I agree name calling isn't right. But isn't the state of hypocrisy more of a moral position.. being the kettle calling the pot black, etc. It's not a slanderous label like poo poo head. That would be unkind. Now its not the most becoming moral position to be in... but a spade is a spade.

The “supreme court” is leadership. It appears that Default tried to make an “in character” news brief for a direction of the server that leadership enacted.

Just being honest, your replies make me raise my eyebrow. Understand that this community promotes leaders to make decisions that contribute towards the success of this community. Not all the decisions they make will be popular amongst everyone. There will always be a subset of people who wind up with the short end of the stick. At the end of the day, people have to adapt to change and change is something that humans just don’t like. We like the status quo. You’ll ask - well why aren’t WE THE PEOPLE included in conversation? There’s a reason that there’s always someone promoted to a position to represent the best interest of the people. If you include everyone in conversation you’ll never walk away with action items. There’s that saying that you have too many cooks in the kitchen. Across the community leadership members are tasked to identify areas of concern and put forward improvements that make sense for the playerbase. Understanding that their playerbase isn’t just the ten people who join TeamSpeak. Their playerbase isn’t the twenty people who post in the forums regularly. It’s the hundreds of people who filter through the server daily. I’ve been with the community for many many years. I’ve seen situations where decisions are made and people get upset. The power of this community is that normally people are resilient, put their personal feelings aside, and get back to gaming with their friends. There may be some that continue personal attacks or hold personal vendettas, but most move on understanding the grand scheme. They understand that they are one of hundreds. While everyone’s opinion matters, sometimes my status quo isn’t the status quo of the hundreds upon hundreds of others who I play along side.

I will say it again. It’s best to sit down and talk to the leaders who are more than willing to take their time away from their gaming enjoyment to talk through these decisions. It takes a moment of your time to hop into TeamSpeak to make that conversation happen. Making posts that put others down simply is uncool and not with this community is about. I ask that the put downs or personal attacks end and we really work together for the betterment of the community and this server. Jump in TeamSpeak and get whatever you need to off your chest and get back to gaming. That’s what we all want. We all just want to game.
 
I couldn't really care because I have nothing to hide, but doesn't this get rid of RP between D8 and PD? Seems like this was put into place just so the PD didn't have to go the extra step in roleplay, thats at least how I see it.

Winner winner chicken dinner! It also kinda nullified some of the D8 training but its not that big a deal. We'll be resilient and adapt.. in a week this will be normal and we'll all have moved on. This is a change that buffs police, nerfs crims and sidelines the normies like D8 agents. A solution looking for a problem.

there is no role play between d8 and pd, all that you do is send a subpoena to them and then they do their thing and bam you got the house location.

so no rp, non at all.

and then some times you'll get to the house and all the illegal goods are gone, and your sad.

The only way this nerfs criminals is by D8 no longer being able to warn the criminals that the police are obtaining information in order to execute a search warrant, giving them time to empty out the property. Otherwise nothing has changed besides there having to be a middle man.

As Duck pointed out all we had to do is contact D8 with a subpoena and get the names or addresses that we needed.

I'm sorry to say, but D8 has not been warning players that they are to be raided we give you the address and leave it at that. If you don't find what you were hoping for that is not on D8 what so ever. There is always a possibility that crims can see they are being watched and be more careful with where they put stuff believe it or not.
