One of the things we enjoy at Valve is seeing the fantastic things that community members create with the Source Engine SDK. When we released Team Fortress 2, we also released the production tools that we made our maps with. Since then, we?ve seen a ton of great, community-made maps appear on servers out there, and received many emails from players recommending their favorites to us. After seeing the large number of these maps, and the high quality work contained within them, we decided it?d be great to get some of them out in an update so that everyone can experience them.

For the first Community Map Pack, we've selected two of the best community-made maps out there. It wasn't easy to select just two, with so many great maps to choose from, and more appearing every day. We've had a lot of fun playing these maps, and we know that many of you have too. For those of you who haven?t tried them out, you?re in for a treat.

CP_FASTLANE
created by Arttu "skdr" M?ki

A control point map with five points, in the style of Badlands. Its symmetrical layout provides for high-speed and well balanced gameplay, while the multiple indoor routes, connected to larger outdoor arenas, provide a wide set of interesting and varied combat spaces. The arena-style control points require solid teamwork to capture and hold.

CTF_TURBINE
created by Bill Johnston

A CTF map inside a large industrial compound. It's clean and straightforward, making it easy to learn, but its well balanced layout ensures there are still a wide variety of strategic choices for teams to make, and for individual classes to shine. Competitive teams and players have already popularized this one.

To all the roadtrip people:

Good thing we've played fastlane, right? :p

The achievements are pretty awesome too. I wonder if we've gotten it in the past if they'll give it to us...

Hopefully the FireFighter and FireChief are retroactive like the Inter and Specialist were for the medic. I like the amount of Taunting required to get some of the acheives. Taunting is good.

One of the achivements says kill an enemy with a taunt? does this mean taunt in thier snapshot or is the shotgun taunt actually an ability?

Ahhhhh! finally! But i've been playing on turbine since December. :/ Oh well, I CANT WAIT TO BURNINATE!!!

Is it just me or do all of those sound much easier then the medic achievements? Also, I don't think I would use the new flamethrower over the improved old one? Blow people backwards sounds money

I actually LIKE the fact that they're easier. The thing that's frustrated me about the medic achievements is that too many rely on the formula of...

1. Wait for a situation to happen that happens once every 10 or so games.
2. Convince a teammate, or yourself, to do something that violates normal strategy.
3. Get lucky.

I probably never would've gotten the heavy punching achievement had I not logged onto a server when it had like 5 people on it, and we all decided to do melee-only for giggles while we waited for a few more people to get on.

I think it does 1 dmg but I could be wrong, maybe that'll be a new upgrade for the pyro like the compressed air. I've never killed anyone with it.

any good pyros will become slightly broken once they get the reflect down. Able to kill a soldier by reflecting his own rocket back at him? insane for this kind of game.

Hadouken!!!!

hey u guys do know that the shotgun taunt is based on a arcade game move?

itz called Hadouken, and like in TF2, it has a small range but a 1-hit kill!

ty for valve, for this tribute

It comes from Street Fighter. Except there it had unlimited range (full screen), and would have taken you many Hadoukens to kill an opponent.

I hate being a street fighter nerd

But not all hadoukens were created equal

Some of them aren't even hadoukens, they could be gadouken or something similar. Anyways sakura had a pretty hard time making her hadouken move more than right in front of her, considering the pyro is a chick it could just be a sakura tribute. Dan had trouble with his, although I think he called it gadouken.
