Microphone Problems

Alright, I'm asking if there is anyway to fix this.
My microphone is called LifeTouch or something like that, and I spent like $40 dollars on it, and would really like if it would start working ^_^.

Whenever I try to talk ingame or on ventrilo all that comes out is some static. Not to mention my volume on it is all screwed up. I have to keep the volume at 1 otherwise its so loud my ear drums feel like they're going to pop (When I'm playing a game that is)

I'll update this thread with more information on the microphone in the morning. I'm on my laptop and the computer downstairs has all the information on it.

EDIT: I looked at my microphone this morning and noticed that there was some wires hanging out of it. I'm guessing the wires are going bad, that's why the sound is all screwed up. Am I right? Or can this hopefully be fixed?

yes, wires hanging out are not good at all lol.

unless the wires are still in their rubber case, then there should be no problem at all, but if you are seeing copper wire, look to what i first put on this post.

if you could update with a little more information (where wires are out, how many, copper showing?, USB or jack plug in?) just stuff like that, it would help me

I agree with Arn0t.

However, one other potential problem is the microphone boost which is a button in the same area of the voice (record) microphone setting.

My microphone setting is about 2 and the microphone boost is off. I get static with the boost on. I have an older $40 head set from one of the brick and morter store. I think the wiring is your issue and strongly encourage you to follow-up with Arn0t.
