hey y’all so i’m building my brother a gaming pc and he found a shop here that’s selling gpus (currently in saudi arabia). the shops here aren’t really that trust worthy and there’s isn’t any micro centers or anything of the sorts. i don’t know if i’m asking a dumb question but i don’t want to **** my brothers pc and waste both mine and his money. so how can you test to see if a gpu is real or not?

First, trust your gut, if it feels too good to be true, it probably is. So if the shops are sketch, probably not worth it. Second, if you disregard that advice, you can use a tool like GPU-Z and that will look at everything to see if its faked or not.

Easy solution, test it with another pc. If you don't have one ask them too see it working in a build they have, I wouldn't get it if they refuse to let you test it before hand.
Like what kuantum said, use GPU-Z.

I've almost been scammed if I didn't test a gpu I was buying, was supposed to be a gtx 970, ended up being a gtx 760.

Buy it from a legit retailer.

come on man, you can trust me. I’m just trying to sell you this $600 dollar video card for $32 dollars plus shipping. Isn’t that a good deal? No need to test it, I already tested it for you. You’re getting the Nvidia 382627CLZ+. I swear it’s legit.

TRUE. but it’s an actual shop that sells it for RIDICULOUS PRICES 2060’s for like 800. it’s nuts. **** scalpers

If it's good too to be true price-wise, it's a nogo, at least that's what i learned from experience.
