Well since my post from the old site got deleted per se... then I figured I'd wait till I got the parts in to repost it.

Lets get a little closer

Specs:
e8400 3Ghz 6MB L2 Cache + Freezer 7 Pro
X48-DS4 Motherboard (crossfire FTW!)
Corsair TX750w PSU
8GB DDR2
1x 250GB (Linux)
4x 250GB RAID0 (Windows/Games)

And instead of upgrading my computer to the MAX which is rather useless when just gaming... I decided to split the money and upgrade my server.

That's a before picture:

2GB OCZ DDR2
Intel 945G motherboard

After Specs:
Xeon x3210 Quad-Core
Gigabyte P35-DS3L
8GB DDR2
2x Intel 1Gbps NICs Teamed in Parallel
1x 40GB (system)
2x 80GB (storage)
1x 250GB (storage)


Server Jobs:
Call of Duty 4 Server (no it's not coming back till you fill the one we have first)
File Server
Web Server
FTP Server

Linux FTW!!!!

Any questions feel free to ask. I'll answer/argue anything you want

oh and forgot to add, I'll prolly change over to Vista 64-Bit... since all I'll do is mostly game on it, I figure DX10 and 64-Bit is what I'd like to have. Otherwise I'll boot over to linux for everything else anyway.

Why is it taking so long some might ask?

Waiting for a video card before I finish. Also I'm starting to debate my RAID array I wanted and wait for that too.

I'm the kinda person who also like nice WM... so when I build one it sticks for a while... I'd rather not have to rewire 2x in 1 week...

your gonna love your corsair psu they rule. my hx520 owns. i have a freezer 7 pro, the thing rocks. keeps my cpu very cool.

I'm currently using an HX520, and I agree it's very sweet, the only reason I'm replacing it is cause I'm gonna crossfire some new 4870's and add about 4 - 5 more HDDs

Update time again, yes it's a slow process... I take my time.. not in a huge hurry... quality is better then timely

Installed the PSU, and the Motherboard and HDDs....

Quite a bit of connections on the PSU, I only needed 1 molex connection lol the rest are all SATA.

Added 2 120mm fans to the top of the case

And a bit of wire running and installed the Sound card.

All that's left is wait for my next HDD for my 2nd OS and then my video card comes in tomorrow...

Hey, I am just wondering, why aren't you using your Zalman cnps9700 on the new build? Doesn't it have more cooling capacity?

good question about the 9700, I'm still going to use the Quad Core I had and it needs more cooling then my new Dual Core. Also, I dunno if it was weight related or what... but I noticed 1 side of the chip ran cooler then the other, I blamed it on that... but eh.

Besides all that, I plan to OC my Quad core a lot, and put it under lots of load and so the 9700 suits that better.

I only have 1 issue, and even that issue doesn't seem to effect the performance any, just annoy me and could possibly hinder me later on.


I can't get the motherboard to run memory in Dual Channel, I can't even get the 2nd set of dimms in, I only have slot 1 and 2 occupied... e-mailing gigabyte about it. so for now 4GB DDR2.. single channel.
