Computer Crashing

Here is my problem, Ill try to be as detailed as I can. I just bought Splinter Cell off of steam. The game that originally came out for the xbox, so not so up to date on graphics and such, so I know my computer can handle it. But here is what happens. As the game goes to a cut scene of a guy walking off of a boat. it waits 0 - 1 second (varys each time) and then the game stalls, and my computer shuts down. When it restarts I get an error saying something along the lines of windows has encountered a system error. I decided to send it to windows and they said its something called a "stop error". Anyways, this happens each time I go through the cut scene, and never happens anywhere else in the game. Does one know how I may be able to prevent this? I will try to find a way to skip the scene in the mean time.

For what it's worth. the game itself is probably just buggy. Look around for splinter cell communities to see if you can find a patch for it.

Ya, I tried deleting the local content, and re-downloading last night, still crashed, Ill try to look for SC groups. Where do you advise I should search for groups?

edit: I looked up some groups, there werent very many, and most of them were outdated. I found a cheat to skip the level, but it says I need to type it into console, and of course, it doesnt tell you how to access console in the game.

ehh as goofy as it sounds. check gamefaqs.com. They may have something for the bug. or atleast the console activation.

I honestly don't know where to look. I'm using this reference from playing both Arcanum and Vampire the Masquarade: Bloodlines. Both were by troika. Both were buggy as all get out and if it wasn't for the fans of the game, it'd be unplayable for 95% of the population.

its more likely to be just a hardware problems. when u install a game such as that i has to work with eveything on your computer, try uninstall and reinstalling it to you computer. it may work eventually.

I've seen this kind of thing before, and generally it had something to do with my graphics card drivers. With these STOP errors, you will generally get a blue screen for at least a little while that contains some information. Sometimes google can provide some help.

You might need to install an older version of your graphics card's drivers in order to get around this. Sometimes what is best for the latest games breaks compatibility with older titles.

I'd get those when I ran Vista64 and the drive on my plextor DVDR (sudo sata, using internal IDE adapter) drive would close.
