Custom cars - (NOT SPECIFICALLY SUPERCARS, SUPERCARS ARE NOT THE SAME AS CUSTOM CARS)

imo more custom cars would be really nice, there are tonnes of custom cars available and they stand out much more than the gtao cars. i am not suggesting 200mph cars for everyone, im not suggesting adding 1000 Lambos and Ferraris. I am just suggesting more custom cars in general.

Custom cars would make purchasing even low/mid-tier vehicles feel more rewarding as you'd be driving around in something unique, not something you see 500 locals drive every day, even if it is in the same price range and class of vehicle.

i know a lot of people really really like custom cars as well, and ive heard that some people (including one i know) absolutely hates the lack of custom cars.

I dont see any negatives with having custom cars, its normal in most servers, and always has been in eGO aswell (as far as i can remember, anyway)

custom cars also enhance the car trading market (other than dealerships) aswell imo as people have preferences and there would be collectible cars (exclusive auction cars would also be sick)

car dealers are also kind of useless atm so if there were a lot more selection (including custom cars) I'm sure they'd be more sought after, both to swap vehicles and to test drive.

Vapid cars do have more customization for the most part, but people would still be able to buy those. I don't see a problem with giving them the option to buy custom cars if they prefer that instead.

wouldn't mind debating against someone who is against this in the replies, I personally don't see a problem with adding this and think it would be all positive.

Rekty Rekty We greatly value your thoughts on this topic.

As you can tell we're looking into how we can expand our current car list without breaking the economy and not adding anything too crazy. With our current method of DS threads and voting for cars. Would you say this issue is resolved, or do you still have a concern relating?
DS Thread is neat, voting for cars is also cool.
i still do think that more than 1-2 every 2 weeks should be added though. imo if a low quantity of different custom cars are released everyone will be driving around in the same ones for the next week after they drop, which im not a big fan of.
more selection would also be great in that regard, especially considering that some rich nerds have nothing to dump money on to flex.

i get the "not adding anything too crazy thing" but i still think high-ish cars or expensive sports cars should be available, if youve grinded enough you should be able to buy smth nice imo. Financing kinda ruins that tho, rip.

Also if (Example) a sports custom car was being added for 100k, would there be any problem adding other alternative sport cars in the same price range to give people some variety and not having everyone drive around in the same thing for a week?

The reason we decided on that number was to prevent not only the server-side that players see but also the back-end from being overloaded with cars over the life span of this server. I believe a rough estimate of cars from the previous server was upwards of 500 or more that were in the server files which equates to about 2-3 GB (if not more) of files. Keep in mind new players will have to download a portion of that causing a longer join time for players who have never played on the server before plus results in a decrease in performance.

We will eventually get to the point of adding high-end and sports cars but we are wanting to promote a progressive future for the server so there will continuously be things for players to work towards. We are enforcing this on the law enforcement side as well which means they will not have the faster cars until we get to a point where civs have more availability in those high-end sports cars that require faster cars to potentially chase. I believe the LE team had talked about occasionally throwing in high-priced cars briefly for those players who have put a pretty solid amount of playtime in the server resulting them in having the funds to purchase those cars.

Fair enough about the server side stuff, but wasnt the old server running fine w all those cars tho? and the server is on a new (better?) box now right? (Not sure if that effects anything regarding the back end being overloaded with cars) Still tho, if the old server was running fine w 500 it would take the new server nearly 500 weeks (like 10 years?) to get to that amount using the current 1 car per week thing. server would be reset way before anyway.

i don't think downloading a single time would be that big of an issue though. If adding the cars themselves to the server decreases people's performance directly then it's kinda rip, I thought it was only when they were loaded/rendered in.

fair enough but some players already have enough for these cars but have nothing to work towards, just forced to wait for the server to catch up to them.

this makes sense, but you can already steal cars that go 200mph and it won't come back to you, feel like people would be stupid for buying an expensive ass car just to get into a bunch of pursuits and get it taken away. still, That's cool though.

Would be neat.

I still feel like people who play a lot are being hard held back though, only a few people would be able to afford these things so people would still have something to work towards, and they'd hopefully have an actual goal, instead of hoping that a nice vehicle will be added in the next car drop that they don't know when is gonna come. i even donated 100k like 2 or 3 weeks ago as money no longer had any purpose for me, all i could do is wait.
